Will this amp suffice?

Hi All,

I am receiving my speakers this week, which will be the Monitor Audio Gold Reference 60's (http://www.monitoraudio.com/products/gold/series/Gold_Reference_60.htm) I am very new to the world of tubes and was hoping I can get some input about speaker/amp matching. I am currently using the Shanling CD-T100 CD Player (http://www.shanling.com/CD-T100.htm) and enjoy it thoroughly. I would like to use the Shanling SP-80 monoblocks (http://www.shanling.com/SP-80C.htm) for synergy in the system, but I am not sure if they will suffice for the speakers? I am not sure how to tell if they will have sufficient power (I am not very clued up on tube amplifiers). Below is a link to the amplifier.

Any help would be appreciated!

Hi Guys,

Most people have said that the 50W from the Shanling is more than ample due to the efficiency and other ratings of the Monitor Audio GR-60s (the speakers I finally decided to purchase). However I have the opportunity to purchase at a very good price an Electrocompaniet ECI-3 integrated amp, which is a solid state integrated rated 70Wx2 (and obviously very high current). Will this be able to control the Monitor Audio GR-60's?

Thanks for the help,
X
Hi There,

I currently have 2 options which I need to decide on, perhaps you can help with the decision. I am downscaling from B&W Matrix 801 S3's, and the main thing I want is to ONLY downscale and not downgrade in terms of quality. I cannot unfortunately setup a home audition. The two candidates are:
Monitor Audio GR-60
Frequency Response +/- 3dB 28Hz-30KHZ
Sensitivity (1W@1M) 90dB
Nominal Impedance (Ohms) 6
Power Handling RMS (W) 200
Drive Unit Complement 2 x 6.5" RST® bass, 1 x 6.5" RST mid,
1 x 25mm Gold Dome C-CAM tweeter
Bass Alignment Triple chamber differentially tuned sealed mid-section reflex bass sections
External Dimensions cm approx. 106Hx20Wx33D

Elac 209 Jet
Dimensions H × W × D 1030 × 200 × 285 mm
Gross Volume 58l
Weight 19 kg
Principle 2½-ways, bass reflex
Woofer 2 × 180 mm AS cone
Tweeter 1 × JET
Recom. Amplifier Power
at Nominal Impedance 30-300 W / channel
Crossover Frequencies 2,500 / 2,700 Hz
Sensitivity 90 dB / 2.83 V / 1 m
Nominal Impedance
suitable for amplifiers (from ... to) 4 Ohm
4 ... 8 Ohm
Minimum Impedance 3.5 Ohm at 190 Hz
Frequency Range 32 ··· 35,000 Hz
Nominal / Peak Power Handling 160 / 200 W
