Why does Cary Audio keep discontinuing good amps?

I understand planned obsolescence, but look at companies like Audio Research. They keep improving on good designs with MkI, II, II, etc. This makes more sense.

I wonder if some of Cary's designs are not so good, or they didn't sell well, while the better ones stay around a little longer until Dennis Had gets restless. Anyway it is frustrating to know which were good and which were mediocre.

Seems like the new Cary is hanging on to the tried and true Classics, but emphasizing the HT.

Marakanetz - I can't speak for Cary branded products, but my AES Superamp 2, made by Cary in NC, is anything but 'polite and soft'. It is dynamic, detailed and refined, but definitely not 'rude and vicious' that you like, but that doesn't sound appealing to me anyway.
