Which speakers (monitor type/floorstanders) - up to $2000 - would you recommend for rock'n'roll/electric blues?

Thank you.

There are currently two pair of Vandersteen 4a floor standing speakers for sale here on Audiogon. Both are priced within your budget.

I owned a pair of these at one time and I guarantee they will rock your world. Only possible negatives, they are about four and a half feet tall and weigh 150 pounds.
I have never heard Jimi Hendrix sound better then through Von Schweikert speakers, pure magic. Any of the VR1000/2000, VR3 or VR4 models will fit the budget and make the magic.
ISABELLE, I HAVE OWNED A PAIR OF KLIPSCH CHORUS II FOR CLOSE TO 10 YEARS. I CAN RECOGMEND THEM FOR THE TYPE OF MUSIC YOU SPECIFY AS IT IS THE KIND OF MUSIC I LISTEN TO MYSELF. New or used at $2k? That makes a HUGE DIFFERENCE!
Used, as a standard passive full range speaker in a good sized room, the NHT 3.3's are going to be hard to beat at under $2k used. There are slightly more rined and detailed speakers out there, but they are laregely more DAINTY AND DELICATE sounding as well! This most always doesn't make for a good Rock and Roll speaker I'm affraid. Your horn loaded speakers will be dynamic and effortless sounding for yoru purposes, but will have trade-off's, like being rolled off when you listen off axis. You'll get best sound with horns ON-AXIS! So, if you walk around the house and listen to your music, you'll be less enamored with horns, at any quality level!
Also, powered speakrs with built in powered subwoofers, or even sub/sat systems will have better dynamic range capabilities if you set em up right! Running standard full range speakers, non-biamped or SELF POWERD designs, are often dynamically challenged comparatively! If you go through your Stereophile and SGHT "recommended components" lists, you'll see several comments for certain speakers that make good ROCK AND ROLL speakers! That might be what you want to do. At $2k new, in a higher ending sounding speaker, you are a bit challenged to find a higher rez ROCK speaker. If you are only considering new speakers in the $2k range, the PSB stratus Silver i's will work well for your purposes. You might enjoy the Martin Logan Aerius's at $2200 retail also. NHT 2.9's were like $2500, etc... Lot's of choices indeed.
I find that using some sort of POWERED SUBWOOFER option in a more demanding ROCK AND ROLL OR HT rig, is usually a good choice as well. Otherwise, more dynamic POWERED towers with self amplified bass drivers also work well driven FULL RANGE as a consideration. Bass management often becomes necessary if you go the SUB/SAT route. Also, what gear are you using?
Good luck
