I've been down this road. If you have any interest in playing music start there with the front 2 channels. When you find a musically satisfying amp for the fronts filling in the rest is easy. Starting from the perspective of home theater is approaching it backwards in my opinion. In the past I've spent a lot of money undoing the mistakes I made with the other approach. My 2 cents.
