Which arms share the Rega Geometry?

I'm looking to find an arm for a table that has a Rega cutout but I'm generally not thrilled with the sound of Rega arms. Anything else just drop in? Or do I need to bite the bullet and get a new armboard?

AudioMods , Moth and Mitchell tonearms have the 222mm pivot to spindle length

Check out vinyl engine for other tonearms if you would consider used arms .

You're willing to spend money on a new arm, but balk at the price of a new armboard?!

I took the arm mounting plate for my VPI Aries into a good plastics supply house/fabrication shop, and had them make a new one to the stock one's exact specs. Parts (1"  thick acrylic) and labour, under fifty bucks.

Take the advice of @vair68robert and look into the Audiomods Series 6 arm.

I’m looking for an easy drop in temporary solution while my new table is being built. Then when I sell the table, the arm goes with it.

Why not just suffer along with the Rega arm until the new table is ready? How long's the wait?

It's a long story but I bought a new arm, it didn't fit so I traded it for another arm, drilled it out for 222mm PTS and then that arm didn't fit because I'm an idiot and didn't read the specs properly. Now I have to wait month for a table to be done and I just want to listen to music! Just not sure a basic RB would be sufficient.

@dhcod So you don't want the arm for the new table but another table while your new table is being built? Why can't you share what type of table you need this tonearm for? If it's a high end table, then you want as good an arm as you can afford. Generally, $1,500.00 is enough for a good arm but not high end. What is your budget?

You should take a look at a UPGRADED REGA arm! Last I checked they were running around $1200, but that was a few years back.

Have you made a decision ?

I just ordered an Audiomods Series Six Classic ,  the model without the micrometer,  Replacing my  37 year old RB300 .

The pound vs. dollar exchange rate made it the right time to buy .

Origin Live and Audiomods arms are really amazing, they take the Rega arm and do wonders.  I think it shows the goodness of the basic Rega designs.  Solid stuff that works.

Audiomods new series have nothing Rega about them, now, other than perhaps geometry. They no longer use the rega arm and Jeff has introduced his own carbon fibre wand. A very good arm. Likely best value out there by a long shot.

As Rega are historically one of the most successful designer/producers of Tonearms produced for the mass market, you will find their Geometry is copied by more than the usual Brands referred to, a search will uncover the models that are direct swap outs.

I've got the arms and the plinth. Waiting for the repainted chassis to arrive next week!

+1 for the Audiomods...

  • well designed
  • quality parts
  • well built
  • an anti skate that actually works
  • a true quality product
