Which adcom sounds best?

I went and heard an Adcom GFA-555 and I loved it!
Sounded clean and clear as diamond - uncolored, and with black background.

I have other great amps like Quad, McIntosh, Krell, but I really like Adcom now - go figure.

So, my question is which one to hunt down on used market - since they don't make them any more - :(

GFA-555 or GFA-555 II, or GFA-5500?

5500 is the newer one, no?

Anyone know what years they were made in?

Thanks for your time and expertise on the subject!

I had the Adcom 555, (4)555IIs, the 5400 & (2)5500s.
The 5400 & 5500 sounded much better, to me.
Try to get a later 5500 with the IEC plug, instead of the captive power cable.
This will allow you to try different power cables.
Liquid-smooth,

I liked the 5400 & 5500. My 5500s both had the IEC connector for the power cable, so I got to try different brands.
I'm not sure of the 555 & 555II differences.
The newer amps sound better to me, everywhere but in the bass delivery. The 555 series excell at that, to me.
