Whats playing on your system today?

Today I decided to listen to two of my favorite rock guitar heros and one great vocalist. Guitarist' Robin Trower, Ronnie Montrose and vocalist Davey Pattison.

I listened to Trower songs:
Bridge of sighs, Stitch in time, The fool and me, my personal favorite- Too rolling stoned and others.....

Then I pulled out "Gamma".
I listened to: Razor King, Wish I was and Skin and bone and others.....

Davey Pattison hooked has also up with Michael Shenker also. I really enjoyed my day so far. Anybody else heard anything good?

ghosthouse,

Never heard of The Stars of the Lid or Eple Trio, need to look them up.
I like Zappa and Jean-Luc. However the jury is out on King Kong for now :^)
Alao I'm glad you like Rick Braun.
Now I need to listen to more Sugar Cane Harris, but I  did ses this:

thepigdog,
Billy Gibbons is great! The keyboards are a nice addition. The set really has some flavor. I'm ordering the CD.

abtom2,

I need to research Massive Attack. But thanks for mentioning Enigmatic Oceans. Never heard that Jean-Luc before. Its fantastic. My first was Civilized Evil and Demagomania was a great cut. But Enigmatic Oceans is clearly better.

ghosthouse,

Regarding Beth Hart, I'm a big Bonamossa fan, however I might like Beth more on her solo efforts more then on the collaborative. Her CD's are great. BTW, She has a "very aggressive" version of Humble Pie's "I don't need no Dr." On YouTube. Also some performances with Gov't Mule and Jeff Beck.

N
ghosthouse,

I listened to Keyzop..Its fantastic. I also can hear the Zappa influence in Jean-Luc's "Enigmatic Oceans". So I'll check the other Zappa references with Sugarcane also.

In between all of this I was able to squeeze in some more Beth Hart. From her Immortal albumn, the song "I am the one" is killer.

radfrad,

I'll check out Rush for sure. Keep digging around on Glenn. He is everywhere, I mean everywhere. I even found holiday music! If your into Gov't Mule, he has a song on their "Shout" CD, and he did an entire LA blues Authority albumn also.

N
falconquest,

That was a great performance. Phoebe has a beautiful and powerful voice. Thanks for the link.

N
radfrad,

Great set list. I saw an interview with Glenn Hughes where he stated that after "he will never be in another band" after Black Country Communion". "It was so special and unique". Thanks for pointing out his skills on the bass guitar. We often overlook it because of his outstanding vocals.

Also,  I've never heard that particular Rush albumn you listed. I have a lot of Rush media, but not that one. I need to check it out. Does it count that I've seen them 4 times live! True story.

N
Spocks Beard, Day for night.

Spocks Beard as you know is progressive rock. The band has evolved several times over the years. IMHO, each albumn was different and great in its own way. Some of their songs are like small journeys. They wind you through different melodies and movements.

I think the one of the best songs that demonstrates their talent and to take you on one of Neal Morse's journey is "The Healing Colors Of Sound".

(ghosthouse, if your out there try this last one before you make your final judgment)

falconquest,

I watched your Patricia Barber link for a again time. She sounds wonderful and a great recording, (for youtu.be). I don't have any of Patricia on CD but I do have a few Diana Krall. Female voices can reveal flaws in ones hi fi. Thanks for the recommendation.

N
ghost,

Finally finished the Zappa you posted about. What else can be said about Zappa and the talent he attraced. He was a genius. It's not what I normally gravitate towards musically. Now on to Sugarcane. I replayed Keyzop, that is more my speed.

Thanks for the enlightenment!

N
The Who, Who's Next. Quite possibly one of the best albumn covers by one of the
Greatest band of all time.

N

Listened to the band TKO, "Let it roll".
My copy was recorded from LP to CD so I got to enjoy all of the pops and cracks from my youth. I like the vocalist on this one. He reminds me of Roger Daltrey.

On to Mother Love Bone, "Apple".
Seattle band who's lead singers death inspired Pearl Jam and Soundgarden to form Temple of the dog.

N
This morning I dusted off my copy of self titled Screamin' Cheetah Wheelies.
Their first albumn is solid and recorded very well. Great guitar and voclas on this one. Southern rock flavor on this effort. Here is a link side one, track one but the entire disc is good.

Dixie Dregs, Freefall. I was lucky enough to see the Dregs with Steve Morse at the Madison Theater in 2005. arcam88 and I attended the show together.

Bulletboys, Freakshow. 80's Rock hair band. Memorable cuts are "Hang on St. Christopher", "THC groove" and "Talk to your  daughter". (3 stars on this dics) I would describe The Bulletboys in these terms. If Van Halen all had sons and they grew up and formed a band,,,, it would be The Bulletboys.

Days of the New, self titled 1997 CD. Four piece rock band. No electric lead guitars, are used except for the bass, all accoustic. Sample link below if your not familiar.

N
facten,

I tracked down Who's that Lady. It's been so long since I've heard that song,(or anything else from The Isley Brothers). It's great.  I didn't run the counter but that amazing guitar solo at the end has to be 3 + minutes! Im glad you posted it.

N
Alice in chains, songs "Rooster" and "Would?".
Monster Magnet, song "Space Lord".
Queen, song "Im in love with my car.
Spocks Beard, song "NWC".
Van Halen, song "Ice Cream Man".
Black Key, song "Howling for you".
Tom Petty, song "You wreck me.

gshephardbuster,

Completely forgot about that track! Thanks for reminding me. Easily the best song on the disc.

N
radfrad,

I'm glad you are into Black Country Communion. It's a solid line-up.  If you like Glenn Hughes, listen to his solo albumn "The way it is".

The RUSH A B C 1974 is very good. But I only listened to a download on Headphones. I should invest. RUSH was great each time I saw them. IMHO they were better when they/I was younger. The vocals were stronger when Geddy was younger. Then Geddy began playing the bass and keyboards simultaneously on the newer music. The stage productions were enhanced also. Drum solo's were the best, of course.

Today- The Doobie Brothers,  Toulouse Street. What better way to start the day. "Jesus is just alright by me". I also want to dig out the Guess Who you listed. Been a while since I've listened to that.

jafant,

I'm not familiar with Vivaldi. Perhaps its time to expand my horizons.  I'll take some time to listen to a bit of your selection as well.

Thanks for posting !

Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers, Hypnotic Eye.
Motorhead, Ace of Spades.

N
Weezer, Self titled, on CD.
Weezer has some fantastic music. Easy to listen to. Don't take everything so seriously,,, seriously!

N

Van Halen,  Balance on CD. Great Van/Hagar effort but the recording sounds a bit bright on my system. Anyone else experience this on this recording?

N
gshephardbuster,

Thanks for the assist. Glad it's not just me, my hearing or my system. All of the Van Halen recordings, IMHO, could have been begter. I do like "Mean Street" from Fair Warning. It's a great song to play at high altitude.

I listened to Aranda, Stop the World. (2012) I really like their energy. "Hey Sally" and "Satisfied " are great but the whole CD is pretth good. Recorded well.

radfrad,

Nice session. I'm working on my pool so I just listened to Jimmy Buffet! Later i think I'll revisit some of your selections.

N
Steve Perry, Street Talk. Not a bad first solo effort. Believe it or not, I actually owned a copy of this on pre-recorded Cassette tape! Sounded great in my 77 Olds, Cutlass Supreme. 350 Rocket engine with a 4 barrell carb. Kenwood 3-way 6x9's. Pioneer super tuner tape deck and 200 watt Kenwood 7 band amplifier/equalizer!

N
radfrad,

Mine was Firethorn red! Thanks for sharing your story.

Faster61woman,

Anything goes on this thread. I have the Zebra you referenced. Good stuff.
Please log on more often. I'm interested in more of your catalogue.

Today:
Firehouse, S/T- CD, recorded well.
Tesla, Mechanical Resonance -CD.
Great White,  Once Bitten-CD, one song "Rock me".

I attended a Tesla/Great White concert when they were at their peak and still filling large arenas.

Later on:
Black Sabbath S/T. One of their best and one creepy albumn cover.

Lit, A place in the sun, CD. Track 2 is my favorite. (Brings back memories of my youth. Anyone else's?)

N
Are there any Blue Oyster Cult fans out there? I Just listened to Secret Treaties, again. It’s my favorite, a classic Cult! Not the best recording on CD, I do remember it being better on LP. "Career of evil", any albumn with these lyrics:

"...I’d like your blue eyed horseshoe, I’d like your emerald horny toad. I’d like to do it to your daughter on a dirt road..." has to be great. Right? Don't forget " Dominance and Submission". Great song great guitar work and vocal effects.

Onto-
Agents of fotrune, "Don’t fear ths reaper" and others
Mirrors, is great too. "Vigil" and "I am the storm" and others.

I could be here all day.
