@j_damon I saved disc two for another time but thanks for heads up - I will check that out.

imo oh babe on side B first night is super weak vocal - down 3-6 db but I am a picky B-/:;()$& !!!!!!
Ha! And forgive me IF I told this story before...

sneaking back into dorm at prep school, faculty door open on my floor. New Neil Young album wafting down hall at low volume.. “ my my, hey hey “

I stopped in to give teacher tip of the hat and he invited me in for a listen to the entire album AND a Rye

cool dude..
J.D. Souther - S/T

counting down there hours to his concert this eve....
Spirit check your PM and subtract out tube !
I just ran thru both Warfield discs and there are significant mix differences- I would call it a wash - disc 1 more acoustic with air and space, harmonics ( and fret noise ) but with a lack of punch and vocals not at best level. disc 2 not as subtle but much better vocal level ( but as is typical of Dead weak in spots), bass articulate and in pocket. Not as much spatial information especially with percussion - much more Pianonin mix may be driving that. The acoustic guitars have much better low end body on disc 2
keeping them both !!!
Luther Dickinson and Sisters of the Steawberry Moon - Solstice

Amy Helm featured on two songs, but this is 100% stellar

no marital advice other than an old Jazz / Blues standard: “ it’s cheaper to keep her “
The LP showed up today..from Scotland...

Sandy Denny - The North Star Grassman and the Ravens

groove City....

Speaking of compression...we are choosing vocal microphones and tube preamps this week....
@slaw sure sorry my head was in listening to various combinations of microphones and preamps with some significant margin and soft natural compression for a recording- the Black album comment resonated...

iF there is interest, I will post some notes along the way... will be mastering it on my reference system in Seattle with a protools s desk crammed in the drivers seat....

every day learning is the goal
