A perfect spin for a rainy Saturday morning, and if you have never heard an OG of this one, it will shock you. Thanks owed to Mr Ludwig!

Another one of a handful of records I’ll only spin if I know it will be uninterrupted.
Comes A Time has special meaning to me. I consider it one of the best songs ever written.

Jerry Garcia-Reflections 1976 Round Records

@slaw thanks for asking, very kind.

had my follow up with the surgeon last week. He said I’m at about 60%, which is about a week ahead of schedule for most.

Been away for a bit, hope everyone is doing well.

One of my top 50 all time tonight:

Amazing how far a little adrenaline (and Oxy) can carry you, and I definitely had some adrenaline flowing when I opened that Hana box!

Next up:

Charles Mingus-Mingus at Antibes 2019 Speakers Corner

While my immune system was busy repairing the knee I contracted a case of upgraditis. Currently breaking in a new Hana ML with one of my top 10 favorites.

Jerry Garcia/David Grisman-2014 Mofi test pressing

@slaw love Moreland, haven’t heard the new record yet though.

Miles Davis-1958 Miles CBS/Sony 1979 Japan press

Miles Davis-Ascenseur Pour L'Échafaud 2021 Sam Records 10”

@slaw thank you Sir, I appreciate that. However, from what people are all telling me, there is no “speedy recovery” from a total joint replacement.

In the meantime, I’ve got plans for tonight.

I do a lot of napping lately, and it is difficult to get out of my listening chair every 20 minutes or so to flip the disc. The new Eye in the Sky 45rpm Mofi showed up Thursday, but I've only managed to get through disc 1 so far. I'll finish that one shortly and then on deck:

Steely Dan-The Royal Scam 1976 ABC

@mammothguy54 thanks for the encouragement. The last few years have been rough, and we tried everything. Looking forward to coming back stronger!

Brian Eno - My Life In The Bush Of Ghosts 2009 Nonesuch RE

Steely Dan - Gaucho 1980 Japan press

There will be a lot of vinyl spinning here the next few weeks. Had my right knee replaced yesterday. Think I’ll start with this one:

Local Hero wasn’t really that close of a contest to my ears. My OG Radio station promo copy was bested in every way by the Mofi. My promo copy isn’t bad by any stretch, I’d call it above average vinyl sonically. Mobile Fidelity did a really good job with this new press.

As if I ever need an excuse to listen to this record twice in one night….

A comparison is in order.

Jerry Garcia Acoustic Band-Ragged But Right 2022 Round Records RSD

The Bill Evans Trio-Trio '65 2022 Verve Ume Acoustic Sounds Series

Strange with the Garcia Band set. Sides A,B, and C are not easy to listen to, probably rate them 3 out of 5 stars for sq. The D side is a solid 4.5 stars sonically. Can’t say I’ve experienced this before. I don’t drink and there are no pain meds onboard, so I’m certain its the vinyl and not me!

Bill Evans-Trio 64 2021 Verve RE

With a little luck and help from FedEx I’ll be listening to Trio ‘65 tomorrow night.

Settling in for a few hours of me time. Hope all the dads had a great Father’s Day!

Gettin’ 70’s funky tonight.

Terry Garthwaite-Hand In Glove 1979 Fantasy

I feel like Dr. Johnny Fever right now…

Bill Evans-You Must Believe In Spring 1981 WB

A great record that I have always felt was under appreciated. Lo and behold, it got the repressed by Craft this year. My OG sounds amazing so not likely to toss $40 down for the remaster, but glad it is out there.

Starting the long weekend off with a box set marathon. Pleasantly surprised by the SQ on this release.

Kenny Burrell-Up The Street, 'Round The Corner, Down The Block 1974 Fantasy

After the two volumes of Blue Lights this is my favorite (of a considerably large collection) KB to spin.

Side note, about three weeks into Feickert Volare ownership and can say pretty confidently I’m done swapping tables.

Started early, going to see if I can get through the whole thing:

Bob Dylan-The Basement Tapes Raw (The Bootleg Series Vol. 11)-2014 Col

One of my all time favorites, and top 20 best sounding in my collection:

Jerry Garcia-Jerry Garcia / David Grisman 2012 Mofi Test Pressing

Recently arrived and sounding incredible:

John Coltrane-Coltrane 2022 Analogue Productions/Prestige 200g Mono

Starting the evening off with this one.

We’ll see where it goes from there..

Been a busy week, haven’t checked in for a bit. Hope everyone is doing well.

Story about the new table coming soon. Going to relax and unplug now.

@spiritofradio thanks for the great review of the 40th. I plan on doing an A/B comparison when my main table is back in the system.

Miles Davis-1958 Miles 1979 Japan CBS/Sony

Weather Report-Heavy Weather 1977 Col

@big_greg “nod” is a really good one, wish one of the audiophile pressers would remaster that one.

Just arrived today:

John Coltrane-John Coltrane and Johnny Hartman 2022 Impulse Acoustic Sounds

Yet another from the Inn Groove haul:

Etta James-At Last! 2016 Jackpot RE

Setting aside Sunday for installing and testing of the new Audiomods arm.

Another from the recent In Groove haul:

Gram Parsons - Grievous Angel 2014 Rhino RE

@artemus_5 I actually met Jon Butcher in 1988ish. They were in town opening for someone-sorry the details escape me (was a foggy decade) and stayed in the hotel where my roommate worked. Talked to him for a bit in the hotel bar. Very nice guy!

In an effort to keep the local economy flowing-

Charles Mingus-The Lost Album From Ronnie Scott's-2022 Resonance, RSD Exc

@spiritofradio it’s fantastic. I also have the Mofi UD1S and a super clean OG pressing. Comparing them now.

Mofi is “punchier” I would say, slightly more dynamic/hotter. The erc is unbelievably quiet (as is the erc Walkin I have) and I would say it’s better than the OG mono by a significant margin sonically. Just a touch more analog sounding than the UD1S. More testing required-but that is ok with me :)

I am well aware that the erc releases are polarizing, even controversial. My wife and I have been together 31 years. She allows me my often extravagant hobby because as she tells friends and family, “he doesn’t golf, drink, smoke, gamble, or chase women.” Indulging in expensive hifi and vinyl is a minor character flaw in the grand scheme of things. And besides, it makes me happy.

Received a package today from across the pond, I am also spinning:

The Bill Evans Trio-Portrait In Jazz 2022 Mono Riverside/erc

The Allman Brothers Band-The Allman Brothers Band 2012 Mofi

Audiomods arm is en route. Hoping to spend Sunday getting it mounted. Already planning my first few spins with it.

So my wife and I took a little vacation last week and happened to have time to stop into The Inn Groove in Phoenix. Suffice it to say I paid Mike’s utilities for the month. My purchases were too much to put in luggage and they showed up today in a Home Depot box!

I took the mono cart off the back up table today and put a VM740ML on it. I’m not even sure where to start.

Dire Straits-Alchemy-Dire Straits Live 1984 WB SP Quiex

The Zombies-Odessey And Oracle 1968 Test Pressing

Still breaking in the mono Grado:

Antonio Carlos Jobim-Wave 1967 CTI Mono

Miles Davis-Milestones 2013 Mofi Mono

The Moving Pictures 40th box set arrived yesterday, but I’ve got the KD-650 all dismantled awaiting the Audiomods arm that is coming this week, so I guess it will have to wait.

Had my local shop order me a Grado mono cart recently and finally got around to mounting it. Got a list of monaural disks lined up, starting with this beaut:

Donald Byrd Quintet-Byrd In Paris 2019 SAM Records

Let my wife pick tonight.

Led Zeppelin-Led Zeppelin III 1970 UK 1st Press

I don’t own any Quiex LZ so this is the best sounding Zep I own.

@bkeske those amps! Wasn’t sure to use the drool or eggplant emoji. so I’ll just :)

The Allman Brothers Band-Brothers And Sisters 2014 Mofi

Thelonious Monk-It's Monk's Time 2012 Speakers Corner

Ben Riley’s drumming on this record is some of his best.

Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers-The Witch Doctor 2021 BN Tone Poet

Freddie Hubbard-In Concert Volume One 1974 CTi
