Steve, still wishing you the best.  And of course, your mother too.  Hang in there.

Greg Allman - Laid Back   Glad that I got the idea to buy this, from this thread.

The Motels - S/T   Fantastic album, the music and the SQ.

Dave Mason - Alone Together Again   I recommended this a few weeks ago, after receiving it.  I still recommend it.  Really, really good!

Johny Guitar Watson - A Real Mother For Ya  I bought this after it first released in late 1977.  It's a very funk style album.  The guy can play, that's for sure.  Very good recording, excellent bass, and a good piece of vinyl.  Lot's of fun, turn it up!

My turn for a little 80's music.

The Fix - Reach The Beach   Actually, some really good music on this album. I like it.

Going back further in time, and a completely different genre.

John Coltrane - A Love Supreme   Analogue Productions, Acoustic Sounds Series.  This reissue takes you right into the recording studio.

arro222 can enjoy all he wants, by his lonesome self.  He is certainly entitled to that.  Those of us on this thread care greatly about sharing our musical pleasures with others who care just as much.  Most of us on this thread get a lot of ideas not only for what to pull out and play from the depths of our album catalogues, but also to seek out purchases of music that we may not have.  Doesn't it go like this..."If you can't say something nice then don't say it at all."  I believe that pertains to arro222

Dude, you are welcome here when joining in on the fun and pleasures of sharing music experience, preferences, SQ on certain albums, etc.  But otherwise, well, you should get what I mean.

Thanks to dayglow, again...my friend, you provide so much to this thread.

Eurythmics - Touch   An early pp copy, and it sounds fantastic!

The Cars - Panorama   Another early pp copy and, it too, sounds fantastic!

Heading to Big Bear tomorrow for a local day of skiing.  Enjoy the music, guys.  I'll be back at it on Wednesday.

The Cars - Heartbeat City   I get ideas of what to play because of this thread.  Perfect!  A fabulous Cars album, filled with great music and inner details.

Pink Floyd - The Final Cut   Pink Floyd Records issue.  Very quiet vinyl, which is essential to this recording.  Breathtaking depth.

Roxy Music - Avalon  A very early pp issue.  Superb musical production (as we all know) with depth of information that seems to go on to the other side of my house.  A great way to end the evening last night.

Ordered these and they arrived while I was at Mammoth Mountain this past week. John Coltrane - A Love Supreme Acoustic Sounds Series. Very nicely done. Gregg Allman - Laid Back Analogue Productions/QRP Great album and great production from AP/QRP. Beth Hart - A Tribute To Led Zeppelin Excellent selections of Zep songs and well done by Beth, with an outstanding band. SQ is very good but not audiophile grade. If you are a fan of Beth this is a must-have. Turn it up!

@bslon  I recently picked up that Motels S/T album.  Fantastic music and really good SQ.  I have 3 Motels albums and they are all tremendous.  Glad you got to see them.  Even though I did not, I too am infatuated with Martha Davis.

Paul Simon - One Trick Pony  very good SQ, thanks to the "heads-up" from Dayglow, I picked this up on Discogs.  Great album!

Cat Stevens - Tea For The Tillerman  This has been a favorite of mine since it was first released.

Miles Davis - Kind Of Blue  I got this last year, Analogue Productions/QRP issue on UHQR.  The best sounding issue of this iconic album.

On my way to Mammoth Mountain in the morning.  3 days of skiing over the rest of this week.  Enjoy the music, guys.

Funny, you guys playing The B-52s.  While tuning my skis in the garage, yesterday, I played that CD on my garage system.  I have a very early pp on vinyl.  Now I'll have to clean it and play it.  That album did well with parties at my first house, on a really big hi-fi system.  Lots of fun...

Procol Harum - Broken Barricades

Stevie Wonder - Talking Book  A bit heavy on the bass, but what a great album.

Jennifer Warnes - Famous Blue Raincoat  Impex reissue, killer SQ. Great album!

+1 Ram  I first bought that in 1971, right after it was released.  I think I was a Senior in high school at the time.  It was played much too often on my parents Magnavox console.  Sometime after getting my first hi-fi system I bought a reissue, that one being on Apple Records.  Not realizing I still had that excellent condition copy, about 2 years ago I bought the latest Capitol Records / MPL 2012 & 2017 reissue.  I'll have to play both of them to see, out of curiosity, which one may sound better.

Enjoy the Ram album, Brian.  Always has been a treasure of music for me.

Jerry, my thoughts are with you, your wife, and her family.  Is this 1941 again?  The world needs to respond, bigger and stronger, and quicker.

Grover Washington, Jr. - Winelight  This album is delicious!

Dire Straits - Brothers In Arms  This album never ceases to amaze me.

Muddy Waters - Folk Singer  Analogue Productions, 45rpm.  Awesome!!!

Mingus - Mingus, Mingus, Mingus, Mingus  A lot of great music and tremendous SQ considering the date of recording.  Same is true regarding the album, above.

I can't imagine why 4 consecutive posts were removed from this thread (see above).  Everyone is so civil here.  Hmmm...

Well, I should join the bandwagon.  Yes indeed, The Last Chance Texaco is probably the best song on that album.  It really is something special, as is the entire album.  Glad that I started this conversation, LOL.

What a fine group of people here!

Though I will be playing some vinyl tomorrow, my heart is with the people of Ukraine.  This is a very sad situation.

I'm buying the AP issue of Laid Back this weekend.  I'm waiting to buy the new Beth Hart album that is supposed to release on 2/25.  That way I can combine for free freight on all😃

Rickie Lee Jones  S/T  MFSL, I got this when it first released on MFSL.  Side one has the "hits" but side two I find to be deeper into her talent.  What a great album.  MFSL did a superb job on this.  Sonics are just right.

big_greg and Spiritofradio got me interested in pulling these out.

Ambrosia - S/T

Alan Parsons - Tales Of Mystery And Intrigue

Both are early pressings.  A bit more surface vinyl noise than I remember. But still, great music and very good sounding.  I wish that I had the Alan Parsons on MFSL.  I do have I Robot on UHQR.  Now, that one is very special.

Been out skiing and not much vinyl spinning.  Back at it today.

Welcome @vuch  I took your enthusiasm and selected Rickie Lee Jones - Pirates today.  It is a great album and, as you stated, the sonics are just incredible.

Procol Harum - Broken Barricades   I was fortunate to have seen them, back in the day.  Gary Brooker sounds even better, live!

The Police - Ghost In The Machine   Always loved this album.  It has never sounded so good as it does now, on my new analog front end.  Bad-A$$

Roxy Music - Siren  1975 but this is a reissue I got last year.  Virgin Records and pressed in the EU.  Brings back good memories...

PJ Harvey - To Bring You My Love  So glad you guys turned me on to PJ

Joni Mitchell - Don Juan's Reckless Daughter  I inherited this, along with about 20 others, from a friend a couple of years ago.  This is a Japanese pressing, with the OBI strip.  Just mesmerizing sonics and a wonderful album.

The Motels - S/T  I got this last week from Discogs.  Thanks to Dayglow for the deadwax information so I was sure to get the right pressing.  This is a great album and equally good in SQ.  Glad to have this, making my Motels collection complete.

Paul Simon - Graceland  25th Anniversary Edition, pressed at RTI.  Fabulous!!!

Neil Young - Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere

Traffic - The Low Spark Of High Heeled Boys

Marvin Gaye - What's Goin On

Lou Rawls - All Things In Time

Decent set, but tomorrow I get to play for most of the day.  I have plans...

Dave Mason -  It's Like You Never Left   Great music, OK on the SQ, but not great.

Phoebe Snow - Second Childhood  Wonderful album of music, and excellent SQ.

Steely Dan - Gaucho  What an awesome album, as most everyone knows.  I got an early promo copy, with gold stamp on it.  Just fantastic SQ.

Time to prepare dinner now, and then a Clippers game.  More vinyl tomorrow.

Steve, hang in there.  I do understand just how difficult it is for you.  Take care.

@seekerbob  If you have an early pressing and a CD copy then you are obviously a fan of the album.  Don't let this one get away from you.  Definitely more depth and transparency than most reissues.  And really great bass that comes through very well.

Hey gang!

My Rega Planar 10 sold in just 1 day of listing.  Maybe I priced it a bit too low?

The new rig just keeps sounding better and better.  Very impressive, to say the least.  Still playing a few of the new records recently acquired.  I'll go deeper later this week.

Danny Gatton - 88 Elmira St.  WOW!  This is really a fantastic album.

Dave Mason - Alone Together Again  Dave really hit it out of the park and this.  The music is great and the SQ is just wonderful.  I almost can't believe the layers of instruments and depth of their locations.  Bass is visceral.

David Crosby - If I Could Only Remember My Name  50th Anniversary Edition.  What an awesome album.  I can't believe that I never bought it, 50 years ago.

Back home from my latest ski trip. Fantastic skiing at Mammoth Mountain.

Spinning vinyl today.  The new analog rig is spectacular.  Trying some different genres and from suggestions/ideas from thread as of recent.

Lou Rawls - All Things In Time

Motels - S/T

Mingus - Mingus Mingus Mingus Mingus Mingus  Side two is my favorite!

Talking Heads - Speaking In Tongues

Tim, that "Out of season" must be pretty awesome.  The only ones I could find ranged from $80 to $155.

@bslon  the MC5, wow, I saw them at the Swing Auditorium (I saw tons of concerts there) and they really lit it up.  Very heavy hard-rock, and that was the first time I had ever heard of them.  They were an opening act for, I forget, who was the lead act.  I hope the album is recorded well so you could turn up the volume.  That's what the MC5 are meant to be, LOUD.

Tuned up my skis today.  Heading to Mammoth Mountain on Tuesday morning, returning at the end of the week.  I'll miss the vinyl, but hey, got to ski!

Ben Webster meets Oscar Peterson - Acoustic Sounds/QRP Verve reissue.  It sounds like you are in the studio with them, especially the sax.

Dave Mason - Alone Together Again  I preordered this a while back and it arrived a couple of days ago.  So happy to add this to my collection.  It's like going to a concert where the songs are familiar, yet different than the studio album.  However, this is done in high quality studio fashion.  SQ is excellent.  Bass is well pronounced and tight, and kick drum hits you in the gut, repeatedly.  Dave Mason sounds as good today as he did from back in the day.  Highly recommended.

The Beach Boys - Surfer Girl, Analogue Productions remaster.

Danny Gatton - 88 Elmira St., MOV reissue on clear vinyl.  Entire album of music is excellent.  Interesting, though, several songs SQ is subpar while many others are outstanding.  Obviously from different recording takes.  Very well worth owning this.

Stevie Ray Vaughan - The Sky Is Crying, Analogue Productions/QRP.  Outstanding album.  Little Wing by Stevie is one of the very best covers of this song.  Just mesmerizing.

Dire Straits - S/T, Mobile Fidelity Gain 2 Ultra, 45rpm 2-disc set.  I have had this for about 1 1/2 years (#6538 out of 10,000) and last night I heard things on it that I have not heard before.  Depth and layers that went on seemingly forever.  I went to bed with my jaw open, nearly hitting the floor.  WOW!

By the way, for you Beth Hart fans (who isn't, on this thread) if you didn't already know, she is releasing a new album on February 25.  A Tribute To Led Zeppelin.  I can only imagine how well Beth will do those songs.  Should be fantastic!  She is doing a world concert tour to launch the album.  Dates are posted on here official website.  You can see the song selections there as well.  Preorders for the album are available at Acoustic Sounds.

Hope this helps.

You guys have me more and more interested in getting some quality classical music on vinyl.  I have some and need to pull them out and get them through the Degritter.  I need to buy more, though.  Thanks for all of the good listings.

Been playing the new turntable rig, a few yesterday (for the first time) and a few more today.  Already a big improvement over my previous rig.  And the run-in has only just begun for the cartridge and phono leads.  This will be fun, tonight!

John Lee Hooker - It Serve You Right To Suffer,  Analogue Productions / QRP

Basie Jam - a pp issue I secured just a week ago.  Third time I have played it.

The Motels - All Four One,  a very early pp press I have had since its release.

David Crosby - If I Could Only Remember My Name,  50th Anniversary edition

Jethro Tull - This Was,  the Steven Wilson remix

I have that Blodwyn Pig album.  Bought it new in, I believe, 1972.  I bought it because of the song, Dear Jill, but the whole album is quite good.  I saw them in concert the same year, at The Swing Auditorium, in San Bernardino.  Seats were about 12 rows back from the stage and about 15 seats from center.  That soprano sax is a unique instrument.  It appears straight from mouthpiece to about 70% down, and then takes a rather sharp bend forward.  I played my copy about 8 months ago.  Now, I'll have to play it again!

Hey guys... I've been out skiing and have had a blast.  I'll be back at it again, soon.

Yes indeed, I am a die-hard skier!

Nevertheless, I have also been spinning some vinyl and comparing between two phono cartridges.  My Lyra Delos, which I have thought to be having a problem, and a Nagaoka MP-110 that Jim (tomic) lent me for the trouble shooting process.  I believe that I have some conclusions, but more to follow.  However, the good news is that I will truly test out everything (phono stage, in particular) because my new turntable/tonearm/cartridge has finally all arrived off of backorder and is being set up today/tomorrow.  I should be able to pick it up by later Thursday afternoon.  Thus, I will have it all here for setting it up in my system Friday morning and begin the cartridge run-in process.

Feickert Analog, model Blackbird, turntable.  Kuzma, model 4-Point 11, tonearm.  Soundsmith, model Sussurro MKii ES, phono cartridge.  This is a really big upgrade for me and I hope it will provide many years (the rest of my life) of analog pleasure.

@reubent

Thanks so much for the good work and going the extra mile.  My original copy and a reissue don't sound very good.  The album is one of my special favorites of The Who.  I also saw them do the North American Tour of that album, at the Long Beach Arena, in 1972.  I was a senior in high school.  Now, I am just a "senior".

I will be seeking out a copy of the MOV reissue.

Thanks again.

@dayglow

Thank you for the good tip on The Motels first album.  I bought a M- copy on Discogs and now my Motels collection is complete.  I have had the other two albums since each were released.  They are both wonderful, musically and sonically.  I look forward to this first release being every bit as good.

Thanks again.

@j_husker   Best wishes to you on a speedy recovery from knee surgery.  I have had 3 such surgeries myself.  Not fun, but with dedicated PT all is good in the end.  I hope that you have a very strong and successful outcome.

@tgilg  the Supertramp album, Crisis, was a go-to when living in the dorms, 1975 - 1976.  I agree with you that it was under rated.  It is a stellar Supertramp album and holds well to this day.  I am so glad to have a pp press, in perfect condition, in my collection.  Please, continue to enjoy it.

Talking Heads  -  Speaking In Tongues

Joan Armatrading  -  S/T

Basie Jam  I assume this is #1, it was recorded December 10, 1973.  I got a NM/M- copy for $5 plus shipping.  Man, this is a great album!

But I do have a new copy on the way of Danny Gatton / 88 Elmira Street.

Acoustic Sounds has that reissue at $34.98, if anyone is interested.

I was looking for that American Music album but could only find it for between $59 and $100, on Discogs in NM/M- condition.  Rather pricey.  Any suggestions?

Thanks Brian.  I ordered the correct copy, from Discogs.

My wife may even stay in the listening room for this one.

@bkeske  I am interested in that Isaac Stern Album.  I see on Discogs there are two versions, one is a digital process and the other is not.  The digital process is release 36692 and the analog (I believe that is the main difference) is 37244.  Which one do you have?  Any comments from anyone else, I am all ears.

Thank you.

@whatsaftumch

Welcome to this wonderful thread.  Your writing, which I copied and posted below, is spot on.  I am in full agreement with your words and thought.  You are a wise man!

Sometimes a beautiful sounding album and a beautiful album are the same thing. There’s a few albums I own that fit that bill, albums that got the production and the musicianship that the material deserved.

Oingo Boingo  -  Only A Lad   Very early pp I have had since it first was released.  Not many plays on it, perfect condition.  Danny Elfman is a genius!

Once  -  A movie soundtrack, I think the only movie soundtrack that I own.  However, this one isn't worth keeping, a real dud.  The best thing about the album is the picture of the actress, Marta Kristen, on the back cover.  Marta was best known as Judy, on the 60s TV program, Lost In Space.  She is a beautiful girl.

Pink Floyd  -  Meddle   Mentioned several times here on the thread so I had to play it.  My copy is a Pink Floyd Records reissue.  They did a superb job with this.

It's either the dog or the records that fall into first place🤣

Steve, my copy is fairly quiet with just a little surface noise between songs.  That's not an issue at all.  However, the overall SQ seems to have a veil over it, a bit "muffled" so to speak.  Not nearly as clear or open as many other records.  It's good, but certainly not really good.

Traffic - John Barleycorn Must Die  A very good PP copy.

Supertramp - Brother Where You Bound  Also, a very good PP copy which I bought as soon as it was released.

Robert Plant / Alison Krauss - Raise The Roof

Michael Franks - Tiger In The Rain   Direct-Disc Labs did a superb job on this album.

I've had my Degritter since last March.  I have been doing research for a while now on Tergitol, the proper mixture, application, pre-cleaning methods, etc.  I also have a Nitty Gritty so for used records that too lends a helping hand in a multi-step process.  I'll reach out for further information, as needed, etc.

What an awesome group of people here on this thread.  I learn so much.  I also hope to be able to contribute some, too.

Jim, you have my attention on this.  It sounds as though you have a Degritter on backorder?  And with an extra tank?  It sounds as though you will clean with a Tergitol solution/mixture and then follow up with pure distilled water rinse via the second tank.  Am I correct?  This process has me very interested.  I have a Degritter and have been considering a second tank for that very process.

Tell me more, please.  Thanks.

@dayglow

Thank you for the help and quality information.  I made the purchase on Discogs and also sent you a PM in return.

This thread is the best!

I have both of those Blind Faith albums.  Excellent music!  The young girl on the cover was a really big deal, back in the day.  I don't recall which graphic was released first.  I tend to believe the girl was first and then it was replaced by the picture of the band.

Returned from a multi-day ski trip.  I missed my vinyl but sure had a great time racking up a million vertical feet, at speed.

It's movie night tonight, with my wife.  I'll spin a few records after that.  Looking forward to it.  Good to see how many great albums have been spinning all of this week.  You guys rock!

I'm on my way to Mammoth Mountain for a few days of skiing.

Keep 'em spinning.  Enjoy the music.

Brian, I just caught up on the thread.  So nice to hear that you received your new preamp and that you're liking it very much.  It's beautiful!  Congrats to you, enjoy it in good health.
