Slaw,
The "Central Reservation" CD is recorded well. (Heavenly records)

Apse / Climb up
Hey Slaw,
I don't recall any problems with that disc (haven't played it in a while) but will check check it out tonight & let you know. As I recall it's one of her best albums
Captain Beefheart / Unconditionally guaranteed

Slaw, I've thought about buying one of those more than once...
Glad to hear the ultrasonic cleaning helped Slaw

Grateful Dead / Reckoning
Exploded View / Self Title
This is from the "Sacred Bones Records" label. There are some creative artists on that label.
Bummer rvpiano. I don't have either so can't comment on sound quality of vinyl vs cd. However... If music from the TT generally sounds a little thick, you may want to try raising the arm a little &/or decrease the tracking force.
Glissando 70 / Self Title
This one is from the "Constellation" label. This label also has a lot of creative artists on it but is consistently better in regard to sound quality than "Sacred Bones". If fact, most of the records I have from them have excellent sound quality.
FWIW, That last album I played (Oneida) is one of the best recorded albums I've ever heard... On "Rough Trade" no less, go figure?

The Golden Palominos / Blast of silence
slaw, I also like that album in spite of the condition. Like you said, it's not awful but it has some noise. On mine, side one is pretty much excellent. Side 2 isn't however.

Zappa / Ship arriving too late to save a drowning witch.
