I just bought a really really nice Harmon Kardon CD391 cassette deck for a song. Once I cleaned the heads and capstains and reconditioned the pinch rollers and demaged it, I played:

Donald Fagan-"The Nightfly"
Amazing Rhythm Aces-"Too Stuffed To Jump"
Charlie-"Lines"

Sounds GREAT! Love that analog sound!
I went to a local estate sale today and picked up over $200 worth of sealed, blank type II & IV cassette tapes, (Fuji, Maxell, TDK) and over 600 pre-recorded cassette tapes in excellent condition for...a whoppin' $25!

They even threw in quite a few cassette holders/cases/drawers.

Still going through them, but I think I did okay :-)
The Concert In Central Park-Simon & Garfunkel

(Just recorded and played back on a Maxell XLII90 via a Kenwood KX-7030).
I am working my through "The Beatles-The Collection" that I recorded from the MOFI box set back in the early 80's.  I used the metal shell TDK MA-R90 (5 total tapes).

I opened my first high-end store at about that time and was a MOFI dealer.  I actually gave (2) Beatles box sets away as Grand Opening prizes.  Very low serial numbers, like below 100, IIRC.
Mother Love Bone was a band that I never got a chance to really get into. I wasn’t aware, (until I just looked it up), that in a roundabout way, Pearl Jam was formed from their ashes. Also, I never knew that "Apple" was their only album.

Thanks for posting this! I love learning about new things, especially audio/music related.

I just got my 680ZX back from Willy.  He is a true master.  Also, just purchased a really nice TOTL 3-head Kenwood deck that makes fantastic recordings.

I've been doing A LOT of cassette recording and playback recently.  Love the hands on aspect of this!
Sorry!  Update on Cassette Store Day:

I've attended the past several.  Most of the titles are pretty obscure and/or something I would never listen to, but I found a few.

Not sure what the future of CSD will be?
Lines-Charlie  (Maxell MX-46 recorded from the LP to a Nak Dragon).

One of my favorite groups.  This album is superb!
Too-Rye-Ay...Kevin Rowland & Dexys Midnight Runners.

(Recorded on a Fuji FR-II 46 from the LP to a B&O 8000).
Fotomaker-Fotomaker (Self-Titled)

(Recorded on a Denon HD7 60 from the LP to a BIC T-4)
Don’t you just hate that!
Got to end of side 2 and the tape pulled right off the hub and now junk as a sealed case....grrrrrrr.

Knock on wood, that hasn't happened to me in ages.  I used to have a deck (can't remember which one) that always snapped the tape at the end.  Never could get it to work correctly.  Think I threw it away.  Bummer dude!
The Collection-Spyro Gyra

(Just recorded and played back on a Maxell XLII90 from the CD, via a Kenwood KX-7030).
The Very Best Of-David Sanborn

(Just recorded and played back on a Maxell XLII90 from the CD, via a Kenwood KX-7030).

I'm really not a jazz guy, but for some strange reason today, it struck my fancy...
Street Life 20 Great Hits .... Bryan Ferry & Roxy Music.

LOVE that album!  I have it on both CD and LP, but haven't recorded it yet.

How about:  Avalon-Roxy Music

(Recorded from the Simply Vinyl LP to a Maxell MX-46 cassette on a H/K CD-391).
Quarterflash-Quarterflash (Self-Titled)

(Recorded from the LP to a Fuji FRII-46 on an Optonica RT-6905)
Windham Hill Guitar Sampler II.  One of my recent acquisitions from that Estate sale.
UPDATE:  Cassette Store Day is now Cassette Store Week!  Just found out about this, sorry for the late news, but it's still going strong.  I bought a couple of titles.  These have always been pretty obscure, but I like supporting the independants.
