What's in your CDP tonight? the minority report

I enjoy vinyl and digital (lately, with recent changes, vinyl actually sounds better than digital to me), BUT given what seems an overall preference for analog/vinyl on A'gon, I'm curious what the non-vinyl "1/2" is listening to. I tried to see if this was a previously posted question. Did not seem so.

This evening for me, it's Genesis (definitive edition remaster) "A Trick of the Tail".

I liked it a lot Ghost but judge for yourself.

It just rocks along quite nicely for my tempo and has kept my foot tapping under the table while writing reports after the daily grind!
Liquid …… Blind Ego

Qobuz

Not quite sure how to describe the sound of this band, some type of modern prog rock I guess?
Whatever I like it a lot!
Ghost.
Liquid is pretty easy on my ears for the genre it is.
Agreed whole heartedly that they have the goods and production is too knotch..
Ghost
Btw I cannot take any credit for Liquid.
It was a track that appeared in one of my Spotify daily mixes.

So good old Spotify to credit.

And another band called Mystery but I cannot find anything on Tidal or Qobuz for them........
😲😲
Is Nutty going by Woobie as well??
😲😲.

Ghost
Yes I read the same stuff but likewise none of those names were familiar.
Not bad for a solo side project I must say!
From the Front Row Live .... Rick Wakeman.

Ghost
Nutty explained by pm to me.

And he gave me yet another band to check out, another Mike Portnoy lineup.

Liquid Tension Experiment.

So much great music,so little time!
Love, Fear and the Time Machine...... Riverside.

Great modern prog rock band hailing from Poland.
I'm very happy with my vinyl version George but that's a good result for CD.
Roll with It ... Steve Winwood.

This Esoteric DV-50S sure has given my CD playback a new lease of life.
It's built like a tank, 48lb or so?
I run mine XLR out into my BAT VK300SE.
It sounds better that way than taking coax out to my DAC and back into the BAT.
Plus you can't play SACD over digital coax so......

Queens Greatest Hits.
I actually have a fair collection of DVD-A, a lot of Steve Wilson remasters, most of the King Crimson and Porcupine Tree catalogue. They are simply stunning played back through the DV-50S!

This morning....

Balance..... Van Hagar.
I spun that one a few days ago Carp.
Excellent stuff.
In fact our local charity shop had three Concrete Blonde CDs in so I had to buy them....
😇😇
Another big Crack the Sky fan, thanks to Reubent tbh.

However even I can’t stretch to imagine them as the Beatles on steroids, sorry but just no...lol
Tidal carries just about all the Trees output APART from Blank Planet! What's up with that!
So this is what this thread looks like ... Lol.

Good day to all.

Division .. 10 Years.

From my Vault library.
And from leftfield....

Mentioned in best debut album thread that I thought bat out of hell by Meatloaf really had to be near the top.

That led me to the next move.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show on Bluray. Going to crank up the volume tonight!
It's so bad it's just brilliant.
Brad and Janet, Dr.FrankNfurter, Meatloaf as Eddy.

Rock opera indeed!
Hmm, never thought of the comparo before.

What Tree album do you prefer G.?

I’m shooting for " Fear of a Blank Planet"

I have been, listening to a fair bit of solo Steven Wilson stuff of late too though.
Exactly what I do G.

I use Tidal as a giant testing bed and when I find something I really like I usually buy it on vinyl or CD.
Start the day off with some 🗑

Absolute Garbage that is on CD.

Love this album but hate the sq, it is well overcooked!
Still got Steven Wilson stuck in my head.

Stupid Dream .. Porcupine Tree

Vault library
Still stuck on Steven Wilson!

Recordings .. Porcupine Tree.

In all honesty this is more a vehicle for Steven than the Tree as a band.
Definitely not MY cup of tea G.... Lol.
Sometimes I do think my musical tastes are too narrow but I know what I like.

Just watched a movie tonight as it was Redbox 16cent movie night ( yes I am that cheap!).
Really kicking soundtrack!

Kong: Skull Island.

Worth just listening to the soundtrack on Tidal or similar.
Tango in the Night ... Fleetwood Mac.

CD, a very nicely mastered recording IMHO.
@stevecham

I think it is fair to say you do not need to place any cushions on the floor to soften the blow from falling off your chair...….

I have heard Steve Tibbets on Tidal but definitely not my cup of tea I am afraid.
Gary Oldman is a very underrated actor.
He has had some truly epic supporting roles where he stood out from the main "stars" imho.

Take his role in The Fifth Element. He made Willis look wooden although that is not too hard I admit.
@reubent

Seems to depend on the phase of the moon whether it works for me.....
