What is your favorite ''slow dance'' song of all time?

Looking for a romantic tune, when you want to get real close to your partner, and get them in the mood.I have a personal favorite from 1959,which I think should be near the top of any list.Anyone care to guess? I'm sure people out there can come up with their own personal favorites.
Hey Jude, man she was a pretty one, too.. I was 13.

Smokey was right there, just the girl wasn't.. :-)

Never My Love .... The Association (1967)

in 1999 the music publishing rights organization Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI) announced it was the second most-played song on radio and television of the 20th century..

Two that do the trick:
Can I have this Dance - Anne Murray
Color my World - Chicago
"In My Room" by The Beach Boys, "You Really Got A Hold On Me" by Smokey Robinson & The Miracles, "Close To Kathy" by Mike Clifford, "Magnet And Steel" by Walter Egan.
Hey Rocky,

There's so many good ones; I would have to say " Love Hurts " by Nazareth; off of the
"Hair of the Dog" album.

Off the cuff:  "Smoke Gets In Your Eyes" by The Platters or ""Harvest Moon" by Neil Young.
I am a Rock - Simon and Garfunkel
Nice counterpoint between the lyrics and the cutie you were snuggled up to.
If you want to slow dance to "Love Hurts", at least make it to the original version by The Everly Brothers. If not that one, the early-70's version by Gram Parson & Emmylou Harris.
@akg_ca  - "Never My Love" is one of my favorite songs EVER! IMHO, it trumps all of the others mentioned (so far) here.

No contest, hey jude, because of its length. I am talking about holding on tight to your favorite school sweetheart for 3 times longer than the two minute songs from back then.
Wonderful Tonight Clapton
I Want to Know What Love Is Foreigner
My idea of a slow dance may be a bit different that other Agon members, but I thought I'd add my 2 cents.  My wife and I are serious amateur ballroom dancers and for us a 'slow dance' is a slow foxtrot.  One of my favorites is Peggy Lee's "Fever."  Also Michael Buble "Feeling Good."  The feeling of two bodies moving together  with power, finesse and grace is exquisite.
For something more upbeat but equally erotic try Argentine Tango, for example Tangetto's "Sweet Dreams."  Steaming.  Tango is full of repeated sequences of energy build-up and release - literally a tight twist followed by a dramatic release.  And the music is spectacular.  Can't beat it.
Some of these are just hilarious. Down By The River- Neil Young. Umm nothing romantic about that one as he repeatedly says "I shot my baby dead." On a more positive note, I did see Neil Young in Cincinnati with the Promise of the Real band with both Lukas and Micah Nelson (Willie's sons) and they played a 12 minute version of Down By The River and it never once got boring. Just not a dance song and not romantic.
Stairway To Heaven? You might be able to slow dance at the beginning, but it doesn't take long before it's neither a slow dance song nor any kind of dance song at all. Weird pick.
But a legit pick would be another vote for  Swayin' to the Music (Slow Dancin') - Johnny Rivers. It's one where you listen to the entire song, which is good in itself, just to get to the ending where he sings " Whole wide world" because that part is great and dramatic. Killer ending to a great slow dance song.
Another would be Unchained Melody by the Righteous Brothers. Used to give Rebecca Howe (Kirstie Alley) on Cheers orgasms right on the spot, so you can't go wrong with that one.
Really? Nothing says romance like Down by the River I shot my baby....🚬🥸

ok I will fess up our wedding song was “When I’m With You” by Sheriff. Not too shabby eh? 🙈
