What is This Noise?

I have several new components (nearing the end of their break-in period).
When playing digital, I'm hearing something akin to static noise on vinyl playback.
Just a "click" here-and-there (and not too often).
I'm curious because why should I be hearing anything (like sporadic distortion)?
Could this be coming from caps "stretching" and forming in my new speakers crossovers?
Is this just the devil screwing with me?
I live in Las Vegas (very dry) and get plenty of sparks in the winter.
I do hear and recognize woodwind keys clicking and chairs creaking (music pages turning, etc.) but the static sounding noise is different.
Has anyone else had this experience?
Please tell me it goes away.

I hope this isn't neutrino radiation from Area 51...

1) yes to humidity..even if its not the cause, you don't want a static charge problem to damage your gear
2) I have heard static pops at higher volume when RCA connection points were not clean, almost like arcing over the contaminants. So cleaning and preserving connection points can help
3) new gear does have a break in period. That "new gear" smell may be your pop's slowly aerosoling away.
