What direction do I take for an upgrade?

Hello everyone,
I am new to this site and this is my first post so feel free to yell at me if I am posting in the wrong spot. I currently own 4 Paradigm Monitor 7 v.4 powered by a HK 3470 and a CA 540D. I know I am in need of some low end and here are my two options. Maybe someone could give some better direction. Option 1: CA 840A and a pair of Paradigm PDR-12. Option 2: Acurus A250 as a bass amp for two passive aluminum magnesium subs, an Acurus A100 for my Monitor 7's and an Acurus L-10 preamp. Option one might be cheaper by about $300. But I Am just looking for some advice for now. Thanks in advance!!

Replace the speakers. The Monitors are good, but not great. If you really like the Paradigm house sound, move up to the Studio series. If you're willing to switch brands, there are TONS of options. I made the jump from Studio 80s to Gallo Ref 3s and I don't regeret it for a second...

I am on somewhat of a budget, being in college. So I was trying to make a complete system and then upgrade gradually. I am definitely open to switching brands and appreciate the suggestion, but like I said, I am working on a budget. Thanks!!
Why not just get a powered sub-woofer and be done with it? The HK 3470's amp section is adequate enough and the Cambridge Audio 540 DVD player more than holds its own with both CD's and DVD's. For the time being, enjoy your music and when the urge to spend money on gear overpowers your common sense, then upgrade. Who knows where you'll be or what you will be looking to do by then.

Regards, Rich
Rich, I like your approach and the more I think about it, the more I feel like I am going to get a couple of powered subs. My room is starving for low end. I can get a good deal on the Cambridge Audio 840A and a couple of Paradigm PDR-12's so I might go that route for now until I can save some cash. Thanks again!!
I'd say get an ACME silver plated cryo'ed outlet and take it from there. You're not going to believe what happens to the bass...

Most of us are constrained by a budget, it's a cruel world I tell ya . The trick is to make the most of what you can spend. Keep in mind that if you replace your main speakers, you will defray the cost substantially by selling your current ones. Adding 2 subwoofers is a direct expense and not defrayed by anything...

As for the efficacy silver plated outlets, well let's just say I find that a bit of a stretch

I like Bob Reynolds advice. Get a hsu sub. I started this journey with a hk 3480 and have some experience with what you have and are trying to achieve. Several questions. Are you powering 4 speakers in one room? What is your budget? If you are pleased with the hk sound then stay away from the acurus. It is much brighter sounding. Phil Brady.
Iam powering 4 paradigm monitor 7's in one room. The only reason I had considered trading my HK for the cambridge is because the dealer said he would give me $380 for my HK on trade for the Cambridge 840A. As for the sub(s), I have heard of HSU Research sub but don't knwo much about them. As far as the paradigm subs, I had thought about only one PW-2200.
I forgot to mention my budget... The PW-2200 is about $750 and the Cambridge Integrated is about $970 after trade. Anywhere in that range would be fine. Also I am not familiar with HSU research models, any advice would help and thanks for everything so far!!!
