What differences betw alpha core python vs. goertz

The Alpha Core "serpent" series aka "twisted ribbons" are encased in a large quantity of lower grade dielectric. This results in a slightly different sound i.e. a reduction in micro-dynamics, increased treble smear, a slightly darker or "smoother" presentation and a loss of low level resolution. On top of that, the multiple conductors can be arranged in several different geometries. The end result is the potential for multiple variations in terms of impedance and other electrical characteristics. How they will perform in a "random" configuration is anybody's guess in terms of electrical specs, but all of the comments above pertaining to the dielectric would still apply.

The "flat" Alpha Core's use a minimal amount of high grade dielectric ( Teflon ), are configured to achieve one very specific and optimized impedance and are more neutral in terms of their presentation.

While some may like the "twisted ribbons" better than the original "flat" series in their system, that is strictly a matter of personal preference. Electrically, the flat series is superior and will be more revealing of system flaws without introducing its' own distortions into the system. The "twisted ribbon" design was brought about strictly as a marketing tool as far as i know. The "twisted ribbons" are more conventional in appearance, more flexible and easier to terminate at the speaker / amp. Sean

They are the same company. If you want to know the differences between the Goertz "flat ribbon" cables and the Python "twisted ribbon," I have owned the MI-2's and Pyhton MI-2's.

The flat MI-2's seemed to be more dynamic, faster sounding, but with a bit of midrange to lower treble glare. The Python's smootheed that out, but in my system, it lost a little life to the music, making it a little dull.

That's my experience, others may differ.....
