i use the original illuminati cable. my taste runs roward the classic tube sound. i also find the hdmi by harmonic technology on the warm side as an interface between the ps audio perfect wave transport and dac.

the idea of warmth needs to be specified.

here is my concept:

slightly attenuated highs, with a sloght boost in the upper bass, and somewhat defocused so that poor recordings become listenable.

in otherwords, i consider warmth a coloration.
mapman, you make an interesting point.

however, what happens earlier in the chain--turntable/arm/cart. or cd source, exerts the greatest affect upon the sound of a stereo system. although, you can always get a conrad johnson mv 125 amp and have as much warmth as you like.
i would think that parts, e.g., dieelectric, wire type, geometry, connectors, etc., should affect digital as well as analog.

i believe i could ascertain the difference between a digital cable made of silver and one made of copper.
audiofreak32, you are entitled to your opinion, but i'll take the original zanden dac with a good transport or cal audio labs tempest. there are probably other tube based digital fron ends worthy of consideration.
