IMHO, after much research into transports and DACs, the i170 has a jitter problem. Most mods out there address this problem, but if you purchase an external DAC that has a re-clocker built in, such as the Music Hall 25.2, the DAC will re-clock the signal, so be careful what gets modd'ed on the i170 vs. what features your external DAC has. I would spend more $$$ on the DAC and get one with an internal power supply, IEC mains connection and an internal re-clocker.
