VPI JMW 9" base/ bearing with 10.5" armtube

Hi all

Happy New Year. Just a quick question. I have a spare VPI JMW 9 tonearm and was wondering if I can mount the 10.5" tonearm on the 9s base/ bearing. I understand the dimensional issue with moving the arm out further BUT as I'm doing a DIY table for fun - that is no problem.....Just wondering if it can be done?
