Von Schweikert lettering rubbed off?

I don't think that was the issue....I bought them in Hong Kong, from a Chinese dealer. The lettering is just partly removed around the ambience driver adjustment and near the binding posts. It is not deliberatley obscured, and a dealer wouldn't deface a speaker unless he was.......a bit slow on the uptake.
I was just curious if others have had this problem.

maybe the person who sold it to you didn't want you to know that they were made in China?
