Voltmeter readings and settings when building RCA Interconnect

So I got the bug. To practice, I stripped old cheapie cables and purchased cheapie rca connectors. I was a good solderer back in the day, I just need to freshen up a bit. My question is what Voltmeter settings and readings when I test finished cable. I've seen different settings, readings, etc all over the web. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Not a lot of heavy techie talk...just looking for basics.

But yes, generally, continuity testing should beep end to end, but not between conductors.
Well, yes, but ideally < 0.5 Ohms (this is hard to do because leads are often hard to hold.
