Using Speaker Wire to extend Bi-Wire Cable to Speakers

Can I hear some thoughts about using regular 18 gauge speaker wire to extend my prefab bi-wire speaker cable by a foot?

I have two speakers sitting on opposite sides of the fireplace so both amplifiers have to sit on one side of the fireplace or the other making my prefab cable short by one foot. The prefab cables have heavy duty spades on each end w/four spades going to the speaker. So can I hear thoughts on using regular speaker wire to extend the cables and which end should I extend-- the spades going to amplifier or the four spades going to speaker? I plan to solder the 18 gauge speaker wire to the spades..

Well it will work, how's that.. Pick an end pick any end. Do it in the middle add some armor and call it a tweak.

If you have the choice of putting the amps on either side of the fireplace,  then why not put each amp beside its partnering speaker?

Well, depends on the quality of the equipment… but since you are talking mono blocks… I am thinking some level of quality. So, then definitely you want to put the mono blocks right next to the speakers and use long interconnects between the preamp and amp. I have done both, and my audio guy ‘ friend who has installed dozens of +$150K systems absolutely agrees… mono amps next to speaker with as short a cable as possible.

So?

Can't follow. The only monobloccks I ever had, had 24" speaker cables.
