Using a RCA-only preamp with an XLR-only power amp

Is it worth the trouble? What would be the best approach? I have an opportunity to buy a Fostex power amp 600, but the connexion issue bothers me. I will go for a more home-oriented amp with RCA inputs if it’s too much trouble.
ADD: Would this passive volume control do the trick?
