Upgrading, Help Audiogoners


HI PEOPLE,
WHAT DO YOU THINK GOOD MOVE?? HAVE KRELL KRC-3 PRE AMP CONSIDERING KRC-HR, ALSO HAVE KRELL KAV 250 CD, MOVING UP TO KAV 300, POWER AMP IS OLDER KRELL KSA 8OB. ANY SUGGESTIONS LET ME KNOW, YOU WON'T HURT MY FEELINGS

I agree with squidboyw. The KRC-HR ia a much better pre-amp. I don't think that going to the KAV 300 is a real step up. There are many other CDPs that might offer better performance.

Forget the BAT. It is not a step up in what you are looking for, and you don't seem to have any interest in it anyway since you never mentioned it. Zippyy must have landed on the wrong thread.

You would really like the FPB series of amps. Unlike earlier models, they are class A to full rated power, not just the first few watts. They sound better than the older amps, and the original FPB amps can be had at a reasonable price. They are much more neutral than older Krell amps, and seem to have less of a sonic signature.
A move to the KRC-HR would be a positive move. Other than that, you don't say what you have for interconnect, power cords, etc. I would look to those areas before spending money on new (pre-owned too) equipment. Room size and what speakers you have would also help.
Aoltes, Forget Krell, move up to BAT. I have a pair of BAT VK1000 monoblocks that will tear apart the Krell stuff. I'll even sell them to you if you want. Take care.
