Unusual noises after replacing an amplifier

Hello,

My previous amplifier (an old Sanyo) became unusable, as one or the other speaker would randomly loose signal; I would usually be unable to listen to a complete song with full volume. Not having the skills to remove rust myself, especially since several buttons are involved, I decided to buy an amplifier on ebay. I chose one that was not expensive, certainly a mistake…

Today, I received my Skytronic amplifier (please do not laugh, I’m not an expert and am learning…) and it exhibits two abnormal noises. I’ve searched for them in Google, but the possible causes for either noise don’t share the possible causes for the other so I’m stuck.

When I turn on the amplifier, both speakers make a high pop sound (higher than I’ve ever heard on other devices, btw). When I turn it off, I get the same noise some times, just a little quieter and not always.
The other noise is heard as long as the amplifier is turned on, it’s a buzz noise. It’s heard whatever the volume is (even muted). I also tried without any input cable plugged (just the speakers and the power cord), same result (it certainly rules out ground loops). I tried changing the selected input, playing with all the buttons. Originally, the power plug was in a foreign format. I first tried with an adapter, then changed the plug.
That buzz noise didn’t happen with the previous amplifier, so cables and speakers are OK.

The specific model is “103.134”. Well, it’s a “karaoke” model, but I don’t use that; it’s only to listen to my computer’s/sat receiver’s music. I “chose” this model because there were not a lot of choices on ebay, considering I needed a cheap one.

I’d like to understand what the problem may be, so I may repair it next.
Any idea?

P.S.: sorry for possible english mistakes. This isn’t my natural language.
