Ultrasonic Record Cleaner +++ New Model V-8 Clean

Anyone had any experience with this new (to me) ultrasonic record cleaner? Competition for Audiodesk? Thanks, Bill

Someone over at AudioCircle has also mentioned this one, same cost as Audiodesk, but less parts to replace, and no special solution required.

These units will fly off the shelf when the price point becomes $2,000. At most, there is $500 in materials in the Klaudio unit. I am sure Harry is currently working on a similar unit that with his distribution and marketing power will aid Klaudio in making a price reduction. So, wait while.
The diyaudio.com thread on ultrasonic machines suggests that these machines involve more than $500 in parts. And this "parts cost" calculation is always problematic since it fails to take into account so much, including rent, engineering, design, prototyping, salaries, shipping, etc.

That said, yes I think ultrasonic cleaners with the features of this or the Audio Desk would sell like hotcakes at a $2000 or below price point.

Cleans up to 8 records at a time and $1495.00.
Etnier and Mjm_analog,

Thanks for those links. This looks much like an ultrasonic RCM that John Chapman of BentAudio was beta testing 9-10 years ago. I *almost* got one, but John had to drop the project to focus on other concerns.

BentAudio never brought theirs to market. It's good to see someone picked up the concept and is trying to make it viable. Very tempting, especially at that price.
Hey Doug- Send me a pm if you want to come over and check out an earlier, more DIY/BETA version of the ultrasonic.
Hi Micheal,

Just closed on our new house (not the swampy one we discussed, another) so I'm imitating that one-armed paper hanger. But I would like to see... and compare results of course.

I'll be in touch, thanks!
My soils prof from KY referred to "a one-legged man in an a$$-kicking contest" but I understand the reference. Congrats on the new house. I'll wait to hear from you after you're finished hanging all that paper !
I've read many comments on this unit and they are mixed. Not having a drying system seems to create a problem with noise if the records don't dry properly. Also the solution has to be just right or it also affects the sound. I'm not sure it's worth the money yet but as more DIY versions start popping up, maybe the prices will fall.
I just received my KLAudio Ultrasonic and I have to say I'm really impressed. I've been down the conventional path, ie VPI which are great but the KLAudio is a competly different animal.

Beyond its looks and the fact it's built like a tank. It works. It works great.
Ran my first few records through it last night and sat down to listen. Wow, clean does sound better.

It's easy to use, cycle start automatically. You can adjust cleaning time and it beeps when finished.

Wonderful product so far.
