turntable power cord

purchased a refurbished turntable which has a hardwired powercord that is essentially a cord similar to that of a lampshade and only 2 pronged. Turntable is a VPI hw19 jr.
also my arm does not have a ground wire.
Is the power cord ok as is or should i get it rewired along with the tonearm (rega rb300). And is it worth the investment or just use the funds toward a new turntable?

I would leave it alone, I have used similarly wired VPIs often and never felt that it was a deficiency . The motor is going to draw a fairly constant current and if it is large enough for the designer should be OK. It is not like a power amp which draws much larger amounts of current at some times.
