Trouble in Paradise: My Sony HAPZ1ES is Dead!

This a recurring problem with the HAPZ1ES Music Server. It will not turn on either by remote or power switch. Checked all the usual, power cord is plugged in securely into a live outlet on my Furutech power conditioner and also tried another power cord. When you insert the live cord into the IEC socket on player, a relay is supposed to click but it does not. The last time this happened (4 months ago), I took the player apart, removed the 2 fuses and checked for continuity with my Fluke meter. Both checked fine.

After I put the unit back together, it mysteriously started working again and lasted for 4 months. I think it’s time to send or bring to Sony. Does anyone know of a local Sony service station in the RI, Mass area? I may try to take it apart again later but do not want a temporary fix. Any enlightenment?

Also an owner, fortunately mine seems bulletproof going on 5 years now. The good news is, even with worst scenario: pull out the drive and transfer over. A bummer but at least your library is intact.

I bought this one new in 2014 and it’s in my office system.  I also have another I bought used in 2016 in my main system.  If I can’t get this fixed, I may buy a used one and swap out the drive but I would rather get this one fixed.  I hope someone knows a trick or two I could try.
