tower placement

Hello - I am using gateway desktop PC as my server - my room is carpet over concrete slab and the tower is currently directly on the carpet.  Is it advisable to place it on something - pucks and/or cones?  I am only using discs (cds and blu rays) in the tower when I rip them - all the playback is from the hard drive.  thank you
