Top 10 Snafus to avoid when building a good rig

OK, I'm sure we'll come up with more than 10. Whatever.

Maybe I'll compile the top 10 once we get a few.

I'll start with my #1: avoid putting speakers that are too big in a room that is too small

The number one SNAFU to avoid, is buying into the Tenets of high-end audio. Once you do that, you are already lost.
you'd think all this was life or death, illness or health, or peace or war. Hell, it's just stereo systems.
'however, exchanging opinions makes for some lively philosophical discussions and prevents alzheimers.'

Thank You!!
Never buy any component that has a NAME rather than a model number.

ACME 'ST-498' is ok
AMCE 'Black Widow' run don't walk, and fast.
'Exactly why hi-end audio is so difficult and frustrating. You can spend $20k for and amp and still be suffering from trade-offs.'

Since you realize this, why not spend 3-5 thousand on a complete system and enjoy the music. Audio is great, and it ain't rocket science. The problem with high-end audio, is the high-end part.
