Timbernation Platform Problems

I recently bought a 19" x 19" x 2" maple platform from Timbernation. The plan was to use this platform with my Zoethecus amp stand for supporting my ARC Ref110 amp. When I received maple platform one of the sides was not properly planed down. The surface is irregular and rough. I will try to post a photo or two soon.

When I contacted Mariah at Timbernation via email here is the response I received: "I showed Chris the pics and he said that it will fit into your stand just fine. Did you try it yet? You will be able to put the unfinished side down into your stand and the finished side will be facing up."

I expected a maple block that was of high quality and not one that has significant imperfections on one side. Has anyone had any similar experiences with Timbernation? Should I just accept this? Any input or advise is appreciated.

As the the owner of a TimberNation rack and a part time woodworker I can say without a doubt TimberNation did an excellent job on my rack.  It is easy to second guess your competitors, but it is another thing to actual produce something that is built well and looks good.  You may or may not produce good work, but Chris has hundreds of satisfied customers and some of us know good craftsmanship when we see it.
You all should have got Symposium new low priced rack it will sound much better than wood and it will not warp and it will line up great.Oh to each his own enjoy if you can put it together!!HELLO!!!!
Wood has a nice natural sound. I like all natural wood for tone. This Timbernation stuff is priced right also.
I think that  TimberNation's audio furniture is too big and chunky looking.  Personally, I don't care for the looks.

Hi Stereo

We don't use Maple (with the exception of Tuning Bars sometimes), but I wanted to address the size comment. The more refined the wood platform business gets the more your going to see platforms graded by tone. A lot of times to get the lower tones you go with a bigger board and different thicknesses. So, some of these guys are going to look a little "too big, chunky" but that might be on purpose to achieve a certain sound. The whole science of mechanical transfer is a blast.
