Do you mean that the sleeves are loose when slipped over the RCA jacks on the amp/preamp? This has happened to me with expensive interconnects, but my solution is the same as with cheap ones: a needle-nose pliers and gently increasing inward pressure on pairs of opposing tabs. Anyone else do this?
