Thorens TD 160 upgrading?

Hi all, recently scored a THorens 160 and am seeking advice on upgrading or improving the table short of the $500-800 tonearms. I might could go $250 or so for the rega 251 or 300s. However, I am open to suggestions for other arms, cartridges, damping, or Thorens arms that are better than the stock arm; also any rewiring that I could do. Thnx for any and all suggestions.

AFAIK, heavier weights and clamps can be a problem for suspended 'tables like the TD-160. I am using an Ortofon OM-30 Super on my all-stock TD-166 MkII with pretty good results. I am also thinking about trying a Denon DL-160. I know the stock TD-16x series tonearms have a poor reputation, but mine has always tracked well and sound pretty good. Just my $0.02.
