Thiel Owners

Guys-

I just scored a sweet pair of CS 2.4SE loudspeakers. Anyone else currently or previously owned this model?
Owners of the CS 2.4 or CS 2.7 are free to chime in as well. Thiel are excellent w/ both tubed or solid-state gear!

Keep me posted & Happy Listening!

@prof i predict the thiels will sound bright as Bryston amps I hear tend to be a “hard bright” sound.
@unsound i have the eq however I think I’ll have it gone through and upgrade the insides. I’m pretty pleased with the sound without the eq to be honest
I’m just using digital sources. Tidal/cd player. The device going into it will be a fiio m11 pro dsd player. And seen as how the pairing is a splendid one the adcom isn’t going anywhere.
My audire forte can do 2 ohms 400 watts but problem is that the parts for the amp is so rare I don’t want something to go wrong and then it might as well be paperweight. Anyone got recommendations for amps I can find used under 10k for the 3.7 cause I’m probably more likely to get the amp first than the speakers.
I’m looking for a class a dac/pre-amp combo  that has a large power supply (uf) anyone have recommendations?
On the other hand someone on the adcom fb page says their 5800 is powering polks that live in the 2 ohm range just fine
Although anyone got feedback on the luxman m700/m900u amps I’d rather get?
I’m honestly going to probably go krell or audio research if the place nearby will let me finance.
Luxman m900u happens to be at the top of my list if any place will let me finance.
I read things on zobel networks commonly being used with thiels speakers and amps used with them can anyone explain this? As well as the alpha goertz cables people talk about.
I read the main reason for the change was the cracking of the baffles. Weight being second.
I do want to know my thiel 3.5 sit at 3.0 ohms when they don’t have an amp hooked up or nothing. Does this indicate an issue within?
@tomthiel if my speakers are completely fine and just for some reason are 3 ohms at resting you think the ohm drops while playing go into 1 ohm territory?
Funny thing is. They sound perfectly fine. Brilliant actually would the problem lay in the crossover?
At this point I’m just getting the Aragon 2004 for the kef 104/2. I’m debating on whether I should search for the 3.7 or or wait till next year stick with the 3.5 and get the Aragon 8008 for the 3.5. If I get the 3.7 at a later time I’ll sell the 2004 move the 8008 to the kef then get a krell.
@unsound i do not unfortunately however I hear some prefer without the eq
@jafant all American 100% and no plans to move his operations to a different country EVER.
I feel like going krell fpb-300 with Conrad Johnson tube pre amp or luxman tube pre amp. My dac will just be my 800 dollar fiio MP3 player with its line out function
So uh there’s a set of 3.6 for sale next state over. They’re asking 1500. It’s itchy...
@unsound you prefer the 3.5 to the 3.6 just for the ease to drive factor or is there more?
Some persons midrange on their thiels were toasted so they pulled all drivers put in all new drivers and made it an active crossover pair of speakers. I can only cringe.
Btw for those that like thiels. I find audeze lcd-xc to sound thiel-ish but in a headphone. Just throwing that out there.
Yea it is integrated and only has rca. I’m not too concerned about xlr connections. It’s a beefy unit. I’m getting it to replace the luxman l-450 that i was using as a pre amp even though it’s not meant to be used as one (doesn’t have pre out)
I have decided I’m getting a luxman l-510x to be the pre amp for the krell fpb-300. One step closer...
The luxman is fully restored and completely rebuilt with a new transformer boards and etc. it is basically new. I have confidence that “failure prone parts” and “potential noise introductions” are well resolved and don’t even exist.
I’m picking up my AudioQuest 9 cables this weekend other than that nothing yet. May get more interconnects but as far as speaker cables go I have one for each speaker. The AudioQuest was terminated for the thiels. I chose the 9 for the natural warm timbre without detail smothering.
I wasn’t able to free mine and gave up. They’re just in as flat. I didn’t know rob machined/made new wave guides.
@jafant what interconnects do you recommend I have laspada between my pre and my power amp on the thiel system. When I get my arcam I’ll probably keep that systems cables all laspada.  But I am looking to upgrade the cables on my imf system all around. Right now between the pre and amp on that system is an older mit interconnect cable that came with the mh750 speaker cables so I’ll probably be looking in the 300-600 range for a pair of interconnects.
My luxman just came in and had made the setup so much more musical, cleaner too! Midrange and high end is much more smoother. Bass is much more hearty and full.
Not sure I would completely agree with the dark side of sounding neutral. But I will agree proper gear will award with superbly clear neutral sound.
A friend has revealed he has a pair of very rough thiel cs 3.6. Tweeters and a midrange driver is out iirc. What are the services available regarding the drivers on the 3.6?
Parasound a21 what do y’all think for Thiel 3.7/7.2 also considering Bryston 7bst. Selling my whole entire second system cause this thiel system is too good
I see all sorts of cs 3.6 for sale online. Should I tag one or should I keep the funds for a pair of 3.7? I just like the looks of the 3.7 better.
