Funny I have both of these units too. To me, in my system there is no comparison. The Theta sounds WAAAAAY better. I have it running into the processor input of an ARC LS 25II then to a VT200(in essence bypassing the pre). I have not tried the Sony into an outboard DAC so I cannot comment, but wouldn't you have to buy a DAC and preamp if you sell the Theta?
