Go Bare wire..Thats what I did ..Doesn't cost you a dime..I just took some fine sandpaper and lightly buffed off the amount I needed to curl the ends around ( about 1" long ) the binding post..You get a great tight fitting connection..And thats all you need..Clamp down to your hearts content............
as far as oxidation..I have had mine bare wire for 2 years and just check it out still looks great..The great thing about bare wire is ..you can alway clip off 1" and start over at any time......This stuff is great to work with..Looks cool and works great and is very cheap..What more could one ask for...............
This is just normal magnet wire, a roll should cost way less than $100, from places like digikey.com, mouser.com, etc. Nothing special about it, really.
agreed on the barewire approach. use a knife or hot soldering iron to remove the polyurethane coating. I'd avoid toluene, it's nasty stuff and overkill for this.
