Tekton Double Impacts

Anybody out there heard these??

I have dedicated audio room 14.5x20.5x9 ft.  Currently have Marantz Reference CD/Intergrated paired to Magnepan 1.7's with REL T-7 subs.  For the vast majority of music I love this system.  The only nit pick is that it is lacking/limited in covering say below 35 hz or so.  For the first time actually buzzed the panel with an organ sacd. Bummer.  Thought of upgrading subs to rythmicks but then I will need to high pass the 1.7's.  Really don't want to deal with that approach.

Enter the Double Impacts.  Many interesting things here.  Would certainly have a different set of strengths here.  Dynamics, claimed bottom octave coverage in one package, suspect a good match to current electronics.

I've read all the threads here so we do not need to rehash that.  Just wondering if others out there have FIRST HAND experience with these or other Tekton speakers

Thanks.

Teajay,

I was also impressed with the First Watt J2 and Tekton DI's.

Since you are impressed with the DI's and the xa25 , have you by any chance also auditioned the 30.8? Or do you think they are basically the same or very close?

Thanks
Really enjoying the Tekton DI, 4 ohm, but also looking at various tube amp designs

Has anyone come across the impedance curve/graph yet?

If so, please post

Thanks:-)
I would like to add to Lancelock's impression that DI's that the pairing with the LTA ultralinear is a good one.

The bass response is extraordinary for a 20 watt tube amp.Great transparency and detail.

The only thing I haven't reconciled is the price point and Herb Reicherts concluding remarks(albeit for the zotl40)
Just to add to me previous post, the review follow up from manthik is very similar with regard to my experience with the Ultralinear and DI's:

https://forum.audiogon.com/discussions/review-lineartube-audio-lta-ultralinear-amplifier?highlight=...

There is strong bass as if SS, with high sensitivity and frequency detail. It seemed as though subtle sounds were  brought forward, like audience noises and conductor breathing. Also, very quiet when it is supposed to be.
If I had to find fault it would maybe be a slightly supressed mid-range and lack of distortion/pleasant harmonics. Would be interested to hear other experiences.
Part of the problem matching amplifier to these speakers is lack of a provided impedance frequency curve from the manufacturer. As the owner has stated, it is not required but I find myself gravitating as a consumer towards manufacturers that are more forthcoming with specific component parts and measurements. For ex, Primaluna I think does a good job with this on their website. DI measurements are still lacking and At this point all we can do is hope that stereophile reviews or time tested reports make their way. Although this thread is full of anecdotal reports and at 1500 + posts, it begs for organization.

I ran a test cd, at relatively low volumes , and subjectively evaluated frequency response, using an otl tube amp that is sensitive to impedance challenges:

I found a good response from 40 hz to 10k.
Like a bell curve,  20, 30,  and 11k, and 12k were barely audible

For some reason there was a significant dip at 60 Hz

and 800 through 3150 hz were the loudest frequencies

The unaccounted for variables are overwhelming But the drop at 60 is a bit puzzling. Unless I have 60 hz hearing loss among other possibilities. I wonder if anyone else has experienced this?
Another great review, from HR no less!
Hmmm...
Is it worth speculating that the impact monitor measurements are very close to the DI's?
I would like to add to this thread eventhough it has passed its prime and will likely fall proverbially unheard.
It is true that these speakers(standard 4 ohm Tekton DI's with upgrade) will mate with many types of amps(see prior posts of SET and micrZOTL use)
I was particularly impressed with their sensitivity and the level of detail that I had not heard before so I began searching for a replacement amp to replace my B&K ex442 sonata, which still works well.
I home demo'd numerous amps: Carey, Vincent, Sophia, Pass Labs, Atmasphere, LTA, and Primaluna. Each of these had some positives and negatives that had to be weighed and many of them sounded very good at lower and equal price points, however one did not and was still $$$.
The Atsmasphere M60's stood out considerably, above all the other amps in SQ. They may not be for everybody as an OTL, especially for a set of 4 ohm speakers, but with my set up in a smallish room I have been extremely impressed with them and the AS/OTL topology. Without a doubt, they sounded the best. As a bonus, you get RK for CS :-)
Just thought I would chime in since lurking on the MOAB thread.

I initially really liked my Tekton DIs I bought in 2017 that were driven by various less than 100 watt tube amplifiers for about a year.

Now that I have a solid state amp that "eats 4 ohms for breakfast" I love my DIs. The quality and quantity of bass was missing with previous amps.

Still love them, even more now, after 3 years and I don't plan on giving them up!
Nothing published that I know of. The impedance curve dan be measured on your own for $100, DATS V2.
The curve has roughly 5 peaks and dips below 4 ohms a couple of times around 100 as I recall.
