Tekton Design Moab

Ordered a pair just now. In Dark Gray, to which Tammy immediately said, "Oh the Charcoal is beautiful!" Charcoal sounds better than Dark Gray (even though we are talking about the same color!) so Charcoal it is!

My beloved Talon Khorus do still sound awfully good. It will be interesting to see how the Moabs stock out of the box compare with these tweaked and modded warhorses. Both the strength, and the weakness, of the Khorus is using the 10" woofer to cover so much midrange. Its a strength because it makes for a very smooth and cohesive sound. But its a weakness because its asking a lot of such a large driver to go so high. Talon makes up for it with their isobaric design. Mounted inside and directly behind the woofer is another identical driver facing the opposite direction. The idea is this relieves the front facing driver of having to compress the air inside the cabinet. This does allow for a much faster response, and is a big reason for the wonderful music the Khorus produces.

I have a feeling however it is no match for Eric Alexander's ultra-low mass driver array solution. Only one way to know for sure. So we will just have to see!

I ordered my Moabs bi amp set up. I use a mc275 for the mids and hi’s and a mc352 for the base. Sounds nice , lots of headroom.

#mc the 4-10s have volume control, phase, frequency cutoff, line level in-outs and Speaker level in-outs.
#speedbump

What time are you trying to call them? I talk to Tammy on Monday and Eric on Tuesday. I’m supposed to call Eric back today about my new speakers. You might try calling at a different time.
I still still think the magic of the tweeter array is TEAM work. TEAM being Together Each Accomplices More.....just like when you ASSUME something....lol
#speedbump

I didn’t try to buy one. My iPad goes right to the website and shows the product. Are you talking about the solid Aer website for the floating platform website? They both work for me
Thanks for all the info on the big “to screw or not to screw question” I’m not going to replace my screws.

Next question..I have always wondered about crazy expensive cables. I’ve always seen them as snake oil ....maybe they make a very slight difference at best. So I had the chance to buy some middle of the road Transparent speaker cables. I hooked them up, fully expecting to be boxing then back up few hours later. I was blown away! They did make difference. Just to be safe I hooked up the old ones, listened then hooked up the new Transparent cables again...same thing, the music sounded cleaner and tighter. Can anyone tell me why? What’s in that”network box”? I read up on the company and they’ve been around for 40 years I guess that says something.
#nwres

im not using Townsend product. I would if they weren’t so expensive. I made my own from parts I found online.
#rixthetrix

the mag lev feet are beautiful. I bought the cheapest ones. My subs are floating in mid air as we speak. I think they told me they have. 10-12 year lifespan. Here’s the ones I bought 4 for $120 is $500 less than Townsend.

https://solidairaudio.com/shop/hifi-isolation-feet/normal-load-hifi-isolation-feet/ukishima-10-alumi...

I bought these outriggers

https://www.amazon.com/Dayton-Audio-Outrigger-Speaker-Spike/dp/B07WFJDZGR/ref=sr_1_1?crid=1DVVJ71XW8...

it took some fiddling but it worked well.

#rixthetrick

Townsend makes a spring isolation device just for pianos. Each leg of the piano sits on a steel plate with three or four spring loaded outriggers that carry the weight. He interviewed a piano player that swears by it. I guess when you’re really banging on the piano you can tell that they’re springs underneath and they reflect your energy back up into your hands. I don’t play piano so I can’t really vouch but it makes sense
I have my Moab’s bi-amped. Mc275 for mids-highs and mc352 for lows. It sounds like they were made for each other. It’s nice having the tube amp on top and the solid-state amp for the Lowes.
All I can think about is that these guys have probably been reading this thread all summer at lunch...and laughing their asses off!
This thread is starting to remind me of my younger days. Sort of like when the party was over hours ago and there’s three or four people sitting at the table still drinking snorting Coke.....just waiting for the sun to come up. They just can’t understand that the parties over.
#nwres

glad you liked the springs. Did you get the outriggers too? 4 or 6 sets of springs? I still can’t see how spikes help anything. Especially those crazy expensive Stillpoint things....I mean your still mechanically connected to the surface your trying to isolate from. If I isolate any components it will be at least with springs, first choice would be magnetic levitation from solid air audio.
# greyhound nine thank you for providing the link to the platforms. These platforms are for supporting components not speakers. They are lovely and beautifully made.I’m going to assume that these are for stopping vibrations into the Components? That by supporting my Components on these platforms and then you factor in the Coulumb Friction effect that I’m going to get a greater soundstage, better dynamics and tighter base? I find this even farther fetched than the version that goes underneath the speakers. Please explain to me how by placing my component on these magical stands that it’s going to change how the electronics work.
#tyray  let me first say that I respect everybody on audio gone even the folks I don’t agree with. A good fact based discussion on these marginal products it’s good to have. Just because you respect somebody does not mean that you agree with them. Your friend that you respect Who has these platforms on all of his equipment does not mean that they work. Your friend may have more money than scientific knowledge or he may just enjoy the beauty and workmanship of the stands and finally he made absolutely believe that they work. I would need a graph or some other form of scientific indisputable proof that they work before I would spend the amount of money that they’re asking for this product.
  • @miller carbon
There is a lot more happening in all his speakers than meets the eye.

I’ll find out more tomorrow from Eric. I was under the impression that all of the tweeters were the same throughout the entire line of speakers except for the BE upgrade

#millercarbon
#f I knew then what I know now I would have skipped building my DBA and got the Daytons and four 4-10's.

did you know that the subs have their own amp? I’m sure it’s not the best amp but it does one hell of a job. Sell for $1600 delivered it’s even a better deal. Eric also offers the 2-10 for $200 less
Eric must have an upgrade for the Moab that is similar to the $300 upgrade he offers on the Double Impact. It offers Cardas copper inputs, mil-spec wiring, Mundorf caps and Sledgehammer inductors. It’s not on the Moab upgrade pop-up window though. It makes sense that it would be more like $500 since there’s much more happening with the Moab. I’ll have to give him a call tomorrow and see if I need that for mine. I don’t know how it would affect my speakers since I took the Bi-amp option.
You will dig the tweeter array set up. In my opinion you hear more information from the mid and high’s in the music. It’s like the array divides up The workload and everything is done more efficiently by splitting up the work. That’s why I decided to go to the Moab from the double impact because the array is twice the size in the Moab.
@tvad no kidding! Eric Alexander has a lot of stuff going on in That head of his. I saw something somewhere not too long ago that he has some big announcement soon. I wonder if it’s some new speaker invention and I should’ve waited on ordering my new speakers. Interesting!
Miller Carvin,
Don’t forget to D couple those bad boys with some mag lev feet! It’s utter perfection
Congrats Miller carbon. I ordered mine last week, I’m looking for a new home for my double impacts. If anyone out there is near Cleveland I’ve got a sick deal.
Did you get any options with your new speakers? I ordered mine with the bi-amp option.
I have several friends who go to the audio shows. They are continually blown away with the sound you get for the price. I hope you’re as happy as my friends are. I ordered them because I thought they looked cool> lol How they sounded was a luck-out on my part
@millercarbon, how were those options priced, if you don’t mind me asking?  I looked on the website and it doesn’t show up like that. I’m going to Bi amp my set. Thanks
I joined this site because I thought it would be fun to meet some nice people who enjoyed the hobby. Since the first few threads I started reading I kept asking myself who is this bully named Miller carbon? I wasn’t sure what to make of this Miller carbon guy so I figured the best way was to just be friend him. I made that last post with the picture of the older speakers because I genuinely thought it was funny and might bring out some of the absurd behavior that I’ve witnessed in this audio file world. I can honestly say I’ve never witnessed anything quite like this a small percentage of you, Miller carbon included take this stuff way too seriously almost to the point of a mental obsession they could use a psychiatrist.I’m really kind of bummed I never expected it to go this way but I’m gonna let the bully win and I’m going to move on from this weirdness. Good luck to the rest of you.
#rixthetrix

i’m not sure what quadratic diffusion is but it sounds like a tweeter that points in four different directions. If that’s the case, it would be similar to these tweeters. I think the way these Elacs’ work is there’s one tweeter and it lies upside down facing the ceiling and then it’s bounced off of a shape like an upside down Hershey‘s kiss that directs the sound in all directions.

#MC I bought them used for $1100 for the set. Wasn’t that as much as the BE upgrade on the Moab’s? $500 each? The big grab for me was the fact that they worked in the 360° pattern. The more expensive Encore speakers wouldn’t have done the 360° pattern dispersion.

I flipped everything on this morning and I’m still really digging the wide open feel that you get from the tweeters. I was watching one of the PSAudio videos the other night and they are using a front and rear facing tweeter on all of their new speaker designs. Reason being is to give the effect of spaciousness. Is any other speaker manufacturers do this?
@millercarbon. What happened to everything matters? I mean you said everything matters, everything. So now you’re not going to sweat the small stuff?
#shalommorgan I too am a big fan of isolation. I have Tekton DI’s with 4-10 subs. The base was incredible, the only problem I had was when listening with the volume up my wood joists and subfloor would vibrate and create almost like a feedback problem. I look how I could isolate them and I found a company that does it with magnets. So now I’ve got everything mag Lev. It’s solved the bass problems I was having and made everything sound nice and tight. I should be getting my new Moab’s in a week or so. I plan on levitating them as well. Here’s a link to the company.

You got me now Miller carbon, that’s why I came here, to be coddled. While you’ve been involved in this Audiogon forum all these years learning where to put HFT stickers on your walls, changing out the fuses on your equipment, putting CFT metal discs inside your components, Putting sperm whale paste on your balance interconnects and standing rocks up on your speakers while you make sure that your speaker cables God forbid don’t touch the concrete floor.... I was staying busy running a first ever invented business in the world. I wasted all those years having stories done on me by all the major networks all the way down to the locals. Ive had stories done on what I created on all five continents. I’ve been blessed to call friends more people than I will ever remember. Oh yeah, last year a professional writer wrote a book about me. My business was used as a question on Jeopardy. I could go on and on with more awesome things that have happened to me, more than I could even begin to remember. I’m not going to bore you with any more incredible things that have happened to me.
So a few years back I had some bad luck, I crashed my mountain bike and by the narrowest of margins hit a tree. I’ve dodged thousands of them in the 25 years I have been riding. It was just my turn I crushed C5 and C6 And now I’m in a wheelchair for the rest of my life. I’m fine with it it was just my turn and I promise you I will make the best of it. I’m the furthest thing that you have ever met from someone who needs to be coddled. Sure I was a little sad when I had to sell my Lotus but I will always have the memories of all the women I drove back to my second home in Florida after a lovely dinner.

From what I can tell from being on Audiogon The last few months is that 90% of the guys on here are very nice soft-spoken fellas who enjoy talking about audio equipment. You feel right at home here because you’re a bully and these nice fellas are easy targets. They make you feel like a tough guy... like a man but you’re really just a bully and bullies are losers,I mean really deep down inside you know you’re a loser. You lash out at others because you hate the fact that they might find out that you’re such a loser.
All right, I’ve wasted enough of my time on this foolishness. I have to go return some Fanmail, wait a minute, I forgot , I have people to do that for me. I’m gonna go put on some Spyro Gyra and watch some MSNBC.
Best wishes tough guy,
Ray

by the way, all you Quiet fellas out there stand up to bullies...... it feels great!
#shalommorgan I liked the website Soundocity.com.  The isolation platform is very cool. I see your speakers re isolated on Gia’s. I’m all about isolAtion too. Check out these mag-lev feet. They work amazing!
www.solidairaudio.com

best,Ray
I have the Double Impacts ,about 8 months old. They have 1 array of tweeters. I stepped up to the Moab because I liked the effect of my 1 array so much..... I wanted more! If 1 array Is great then 2 must be mind bending!
You guys might think this sounds stupid, I’m new to the audio world and when I was shopping for speakers I looked at the ratio of dollars spent over the amount of drivers received. I figured since it’s the drivers that do the work the more the merrier, to a certain extent. I don’t know anything about the science behind it but I do love the sound of these Tekton DI speakers. That was also how I figured on which brand to purchase for subs.Tekton makes a sub call the 4-10 or four - ten inch woofers. When I talk to Eric before I purchase them he had said that I was getting the same amount of woofer surface area in one of his 4-10 subs that you would get in a single 15 inch SVS. So I stuck with my formula and if I spent $1600 on one 1SVS sub I could buy two of Eric‘s. So that’s what I did. I get amazing base at low volume levels because I have twice the amount of woofers working. I have the volume down low and it truly is amazing how rich everything sounds. Everyone who comes over usually comments. I spent $4500 for two speakers and two subs. When you add everything up I’ve got 30 drivers working for me. I really like the idea of sharing the load and Having each driver doing less work then having three more expensive drivers per speaker doing all of the work
This is going to sound completely nuts because the Moab speakers have so many tweeters. I’ve always had a fascination for the idea of the 360° super tweeter. Well, I found one it’s made by Elac. So we hook these units up and I set them on top of the Moab’s. It has two adjustments one for db and one For frequency. The DB adjustments go from plus 4DB to minus 4DB. There’s a detent for 10 K, 12 K and 15 K. I set mine up minus 4DB at 15 K. I am amazed at the effect they have. It makes the music sound huge. I guess from what I read that the 360° pattern makes you hear reflections from different places in the room at different times. This being different than a regular speaker which is designed to project the music first at the listener. I put some pictures on my systems page if you’d like to have a look.Has anybody else had any experience with a 360° super tweeter apparatus thingy?
At the time I didn’t feel like spending the extra money for the Moab. Then when the speakers arrived, the DIs were a little darker blue than the subs. Eric said that if I sent back the speakers he would make it right with the new blue that is on the subs. I had some extra money so I figured why not step up to the Moab. I think I’ve done the math right but you commented about having 34 drivers instead of 30 drivers, actually it should go up to 42 drivers with the Moab. That’s a lot of drivers pushing frequencies For me!
#p0U812  my post about the number of drivers only explains how I made my decision. I never said that my speakers were the best or that the Wilson’s were the worst. I simply made a statement that I enjoyed my speakers and shared with you guys the way that I made my decision. Where do you get off putting words in my mouth?
Thanks MC for the explanation. It Shores up what I already kind of knew, is that the speaker was effectively a three-way. Isn’t Eric actually building a home audio version of a commercial array Soundsystem like you here at a concert? I noticed as you move up the line of speakers from the Moab, He adds two mid range Speakers for the encore and two more for the Ulfbert. Then when you get to the very top, the model called the 1812 has one giant 18 inch woofer, 12 mid range and 18 tweeters. That’s the speaker I would love to hear! I guess if he would have stuck to his theory instead of having One 18 inch woofer he should have foUr 10 inch woofers. I wonder why he didn’t Stick with his theory?
If you go to Eric‘s website there’s a button for his blog. It goes all the way back to 2010. It’s pretty interesting there’s lots of stuff on there that he doesn’t offer anymore and you can see his announcements of stuff he thought would do well that maybe didn’t do so well etc. it’s kind a cool like a window into the past
My Moab’s are on the way. The way you know is they send you a bill of lading if they’re being shipped and you also get an email. Mine will probably hit Ohio Monday.
By the way I bought a set of lore speakers for our fellow who works for me as a gift. I was impressed, they sounded great very lively and fun. I was running them off a little 25 W amplifier that I had

Unlevel speakers will compromise safety and imaging quality.Use a small level and place on top of the speaker, and adjust the feet as needed to level the speaker while keeping all feet in contact with the oor.GENERAL INFORMATIONSPEAKER SETUP
  • 7SPEAKER PLACEMENT (CONTINUED)Speakers should only be placed on a level surface with all feet in contact with the oor! Speakers are heavy and are prone to tipping if unlevel. This can cause severe injury. If the surface is slightly unlevel or carpeted, the feet may be unscrewed 2-3 turns in order to level the speaker. The speaker should always be in perfect vertical alignment. Speakers that are damaged by being placed in any of the following conditions will not be covered by warranty. When choosing a location for your speakers, do not place your speakers in the following conditions:Direct sunlight• Direct sunlight may cause discoloration and warpingHeatNear heat sources (e.g. stoves, radiators, heating valves, ampliers, etc.)Near burning candles or other open amesExtreme weather• High humidity causes the speaker cabinet to expand and can damage it over time• Very high or very low temperaturesVibrational activityNear washing machines or other household machineryOther potential hazardsNear CRT televisions (may cause color issues with TV)Near magnetic cards such as credit cards or commuter cards (may cause cards to fail)Near transformers (stray magnetic elds may cause hum noise on woofers)Near cell phonesOn lacquers or other ooring surfaces that may be discolored by the feetVentilation openings should be clear and free of any blockages.ATTACHING OR REMOVING GRILLESIf you purchased grilles for your speakers, use care when installing or removing them. When installing, the posts in the grilles should be carefully lined up with the mounting holes on the speaker and gently but rmly pressed into place. When removing, use your ngers to grip close to the mounting points and pull gently.
  • 8Very high volume can damage the components of the speakers as well as cause severe hearing damage. We recommend that higher volumes be used carefully or not at all to avoid damage to speakers or hearing. Do not leave speakers under high overload conditions unattended.VOLUMESERVICECLEANINGTo prevent risk of electric shock, always have a qualied professional carry out service or repairs to speakers. Never open the cabinet yourself or touch components inside the speaker. Internal components may store and discharge current.Service should be performed whenever the speakers are damaged in any way. Common scenarios include:Faulty amplier passing DC into the speaker (commonly at fault when woofers are blown)• Power cord or plug is damaged• Speakers have been dropped or fallen• Something has been dropped on or fallen on the speakers• Exposed to rain, moisture, or liquid spill• Speakers stop operating normallyCare should be taken when cleaning your speakers. Use a microber cloth or dust brush to clean your speakers. Do not use furniture polish, lacquer thinner, alcohol, benzenes or most other chemicals for cleaning! Alcohol-free glass cleaner can be used for general cleaning. We recommend Spray Way®.Over-the-shelf products such as Turtle Wax® or carnauba wax may be used to shine or buff out scratches.
  • 9DISPOSALPREPARING SPEAKERS FOR USEDispose of packaging in an environmentally friendly way whenever possible. Follow all guidelines for proper disposal in your local area. Be aware that some materials in the speaker are valuable for recycling. Some materials cannot be disposed of conventionally. Disable the speakers before disposal.Ensure equipment is unplugged before beginning.Use the appropriate gauge of wire. A minimum of 18 gauge is recommended for up to 25 feet.Be sure to connect the wire polarity properly. Most wires are color-coded for easy matching. Strip off about ½” of the insulation from the end of your speaker cables and twist the bare ends. Connect the red (positive) amplier terminal to the red (positive) terminal on your speakers by inserting the bare end into the binding post. Connect the negative terminals the same way. Do not allow positive and negative wires to touch each other once connected to the speakers.
  • 10In a stereo listening arrangement, place the speakers so that they form an equilateral triangle with your listening position. Toeing the speakers in toward the listener will result in a more focused image.STEREO SETUPGENERAL GUIDELINESCENTER CHANNEL SETUPRemove any objects that stand between your speakers and your ears. Arrange speakers and furniture symmetrical whenever possible to minimize reections.Position your speakers so that the tweeters are at roughly the same height as your ears. Bookshelf or mid-size speakers can be used with stands to achieve this.Speakers with rear-facing ports should be positioned away from the nearest wall to avoid reections. In most cases, speakers should be angled slightly inward (toed-in) to point towards the listener. Less toe-in will widen the listening area. The following are instructions for getting the best sound from your new speakers. That said, sound is a highly subjective topic. These instructions should not be considered a comprehensive guide, but rather a starting point to build upon and experiment with to suit your unique listening environment and style.Center channels should be positioned exactly between the front stereo speakers. If a television is present, the center channel can be positioned just above or below it. Whenever possible, the center channel should be close to the same height as front speakers.SPEAKER PLACEMENT
  • 11SURROUND SOUND SETUPSurround speakers should be directed to the listening area, placed at the same height or higher than front speakers, and positioned further apart from each other than front speakers.WARRANTY INFORMATIONTekton Design provides a limited 60-day trial with all loudspeakers. All parts are covered for 5 years, except in cases of unreasonable use, accidents, alterations or modications, or burnt voice coils. In order to qualify for a refund, the returned product must be in new condition, in the original packaging.Buyer is responsible for packaging, return shipping costs, and delivery arrangements.Custom builds and nishes may not be eligible for returns, contact us for details.

My pleasure. There are also very nice illustrations that go step-by-step. I don’t have the computer skills to get them to show up in this forum. Sorry. I take it that there’s nothing in what you read that is of any serious concern?
Yesterday I got an email fromTekton. It was actually two emails the first one was an owners manual and a thank you from Eric for purchasing the speakers. The second one was how to unpackaged them since they’re quite large etc. I’m hoping to have the speakers hooked up I’m guessing Monday Or Tuesday. I was going to post a report but I lack the list of terms that you guys use when you’re describing something. Could somebody post with the basic ones and explain to me what they mean.  I was going to post a report but I lack the list of terms that you guys use when you’re describing something. Could somebody post what the basic ones are and explain to me what they mean?
Also Miller Carbone asked how long it took from the time I ordered.I ordered mine approximately April 30, I looked at the calendar the order to delivery date is looking like a little over seven weeks.
Hey guys....  This is one of the emails I received from Tekton.

  • Double Impact Unpacking Instructions… Important! Please read all of the instructions before beginning to unpack your loudspeakers! The Double Impact is a heavy loudspeaker. Take no chances with lifting. It is best to usea hand truck when moving. It is important to unpack the Double Impact loudspeaker very carefully. Improper unpacking can result in a damaged tweeter and/or drive unit. The shipping box is in two pieces - there is a taped seam all the way around the middle of the box. Note that the spikes are located in the top piece of foam in one of the loudspeakers.1. Open the top of the box. However, don't remove the top pieces of packing foam.2. Carefully cut along the tape line around the center (ensure that you don't cut deeply).3. Lift the top box up and off the loudspeaker while ensuring the foam is held precisely in place. 4. Next, remove the loose pieces of foam on the front and sides of the speaker being extra careful to make sure that the packing foam directly touching the front baffle of the loudspeakers safely clears the drive units when removing the foam. If the foam directly contacts the tweeters, it can damage the domes.5. Tilt the box forward a bit, while supporting the speaker, to remove the back piece of foam. Place a blanket or protective fabric on the floor and very carefully lay the speaker on its side. Lift to stand upside down, remove the bottom of the box. 6. Put the spikes in, lay on its side and stand upright. Floor spikes are embedded in the top piece of packing foam in one of the boxes. The spikes are vital and must be installed. Leveling is crucial as well once the speakers are in place.PLEASE NOTE:1. Occasionally some damage may occur during shipping. Please inspect the boxes thoroughly. If there is noticeable damage, it is IMPERATIVE that you note that on delivery BEFORE you sign to accept them.  Make sure the driver notes “DAMAGED” on the documents. Immediately take pictures of the boxes. When you open them if there is visible damage to your loudspeakers take pictures of the loudspeakers, the packing materials, and the boxes or we cannot file a claim for damage. Call the carrier to let them know and email us as well. 2. If you feel an Inside Delivery Service is required you will be charged the additional fees for these services. Tekton Design does not authorize these charges and they will be your responsibility. These charges range from $50-$150 per speaker. I hope you enjoy the speakers!
#MC I respect your thoughts on the terms. But someone like myself that doesn’t understand what the terms are but still enjoys music, naturally uses specs to make a decision. I didn’t get a pop Up in my computer when I started buying equipment that said stop! Don’t buy another piece until you learn these terms. There’s a lot of terms in the platform company’s website. I don’t remember seeing any specs about how they change the music. That’s a problem for me. If they’ve got enough balls to put specs out that myself or others are able to analyze then I logically can come to the conclusion that the products work. If I don’t see any of that information I’m uncomfortable and see red flags. I have lots of time to read since being sentenced to a wheelchair. I was always a show me science-based kind of guy anyways. I was a carpenter which was all math and a business owner which is all math. If you don’t have math we have a problem.
Yes sir! I should’ve just spent the money earlier instead of buying the double impact but I was a little unsure about what I was going to get. How about you? Have you gotten any news on where you are in the queue? I’m going to try and do a simple review of mine in my not knowing anything street talk.....lol and will see how much of it makes any sense!I’m going to save the detail professional version for you.
Hey guys,
Here’s the next step in my little review of my Moab speaker adventure. I got a call from the shipping company and they will be delivering the speakers on Wednesday.
I’ve got a few thoughts on all this talk about drivers and tweeters. When I decided to order my double impacts from Eric eight months ago I didn’t know anything about speakers. Here are some thoughts on why I decided to send them a check. First off when I called there I was able to talk to Eric. He spent a good half hour on the phone with me and explained anything I could ask him. He shared with me the story Of how he had spent his entire life wanting to be a speaker manufacturer. That’s what he went to school for etc. then he told me that he worked for several larger speaker companies, started near the bottom and work his way up. His plan was to learn as much as he possibly could from the pros and then branch out on his own. Sounds to me like a guy with a solid plan.
When this thread started Miller Carbon posted that he had gotten some special tweeters and internal wiring. I called Eric To find out if I was missing anything Before they finished building mine.  He flat out told me to just save my money, that the difference was so minuscule that I’d never know. Also that all of the rewards that the speaker had won and all the reviews that the speaker got was all on the same stock model that I Was getting. So, I had the expert on the phone I took his word for it. I don’t have any regrets. As people have been saying on this forum, to each his own.
So what’s the big deal if Miller carbon wants something that’s been a little hot rod’d ? If you’re going to do stuff like that the best way is working with the guy who designed it and or built it. Whether it’s a speaker, a racing motor or a toaster... It’s all about having something different and feeling special.
