Tannoy Speakers

Who here owns, owned, or has auditioned Tannoy speakers? What did you think of them? If you no longer own them or opted to buy something else, can you tell me why? I'm trying to decide what my next set of speakers will be.

Agreed - I just bought some Ardens about 6 weeks or so ago...LOVE them!  I'm actually quite surprised by how much I like them.  I've owned some pretty good vintage speakers, not many newer ones, and the Tannoy Arden may be my favorite...or maybe just because it's what I have now haha.  I also currently have KEF 107's and I think I prefer the Tannoys to the KEF's for music.  The KEF's can handle more complex works though, and are more dynamic with tighter and deeper bass.  Better for home theater and large orchestral.  But the Tannoys do so much right.  They are like Quads, with more soul and more bass!  Probably not as clear, but close.  And yes I have owned Quad 57's and Apogee speakers as well.  Highly recommend the Tannoy Arden speakers for good sound on the cheap (if you can find them cheap)!  I'm running mine with Bel Canto DAC and CD player, and Quicksilver 90 wpc mono tube amps.  Also using Townshend Audio Maximum super tweeters with them.  I really cannot ask for better sound for a fairly modest outlay of cash!  I feel spoiled!
