System synergy

I know there have been a million posts about synergy, and this is why we are all here--to find the just the right combo that works for us best. But I just wanted to say how fun it is to make a little change and experience a HUGE difference in my system. I have had a set of Bel Canto REF 1000 mk ii for about 5 months and they have really broken in nicely. I moved to a new house about a month and a half ago and set up my system using a Bel Canto Pre3, Bel Canto DAC3, and a Bel Canto CD1 for source. Speakers are Dynaudio Audience 82. Cardas Golden Cross XLR cables. I thought it sounded great but for some reason the bass didn't have quite the slam I thought I could get. Even running the DAC3 direct to the amps didn't give it either. So then I ran everything thru my trusty Adcom GFP 750 and man, my hair stood on end. I got another half octave of bass and a wider, broader soundstage. Everything sounds as smooth and detailed as before but it is just fuller, richer, bigger, and gives me those chills we are all after. So, share your stories of a little change that reaped big rewards, I'd love to hear it! Happy listening....

That GFP-750 is a fine piece IMHO. Are you using it active or passive?

My "synergy" experiences were when I went from one VSA sub to two. Everything came together then. The sound went from really good to eye opening. Another was adding a Xono to my Pass front end. All the elements were there. The nay-sayers are all dis-banded! Except the in-laws...
I liked it passive when I used it with my forte 5 amp and Von schweikert vr1 bookshelf system but with the bel cantos the active really sounds fabulous. I guess the class d do even better with the active stage. I have flipped back and forth but settled on the active. Could be that it brings out the best in the dyns in this system. With passive they are just a bit too recessed and lacked dynamics. Pleasant enough but...The active just makes em kick!
Ps there is something about Nelson Pass designs that just sound right as you know too! I would love to run 2 subs too. Someday....
