Sunfire Amps

QUESTION 1: DO YOU LIKE THE SOUND? ICAN'T HELP WITH 1. QUESTION 2: DO THEY HOLD UP? YES MINE RUNS 8-12 HOURS A DAY.QUESTION 3 : SERVICE MINE BLEW OUT LEFT CHANNEL, BACK FROM SERVICE IN ONE WEEK, THAT WAS 6 MONTHS PAST. IF YOU CAN'T ANSWER QUESTION NUMBER ONE, THE REST ARE MOOT. J.B.

I haven't tried the sunfire amp but the one I had (tfm 55x I think) was very dry and lean compared to my classe ca-100. But it was awsome as a 1000 watt subwoofer amp. and compact as a bonus. I wish he would sell that patent so better companies can make powerful high watt amps and still be compact. Also carver went bankrupt so enough said.

Very disappointing. I compared side by side against McCormack DNA-1 and the McCormack blew it away. The Sunfire was incredibly annoying to listen to, shrilly highs and had no substantial bottom. The DNA was warm and airy and beautifully natural sounding. Listened with: Mark Levinson 38 Mark Levinson 360s & 37 Wilson Watt Puppy 5.1s Transparent Reference all around.

I just bought the Sunfire signature amp from a used store. It is increditable to beat down my vintage amp. Mark ML3 by driving my Duntech Princess. If the logo labeled as Mark or Krell, it can be mark up the price 4 to 5 times of it original selling price. Thanks Bob Carver as I can save the remianing money on the other gears improvement. that

I have read some of the comments and beliefs on this topic. I only know what I hear. I have auditioned the new Sunfire Amps and they don't sound that much different than the amps Bob Carver built for the Carver Corp. . The only difference is the cosmetics and the price. I used to be able to afford his products , but now they are out of my price range. I have been a Carver fan and consumer for about 10 years, and all of my equipment is Carver,right down to the Carver Silver Series speakers. For the money that I spent, I haven't heard a better system yet. Bob Carver is a legitimate force to be reckoned with in the audio world, and he is not only a genius of audio technology but of maketing as well. In this day and age of competition between the Audio giants, Bob has carved out a small piece of the audio pie with a cult following that I am proud to be a part of .

I've had a sunfire amp for a year now and am really pleased with it. Sounds really musical to me. Great sound. I never understood why Bob Carver stuff got some much heat from some audiophiles. You'd think he was employed by Bose. haha

Junk. Does big glitzy ad campaigns, but products just don't make it. You see an awful lot of newly used unfire equipment on the market. That should tell you something.

I agree. Bob Carver is a genius. A marketing genius.

i think the sunfire is an excellent amp for the price . . . no, it doesn't sound like a tube amp, but it is warm and musical--i own one myself . . . as for Bob Carver taking "shortcuts", i hardly think that a patented digital tracking power supply which results in a relatively lightweight and powerful amp able to drive any conceivable real-world load is a "shortcut"

To the "tweaks" who infest the fever swamps of the "High End", Bob Carver is the personification of Satan. He refuses to play their silly little elitist games of half-truths, misconceptions and old wives tales. Bob Carver is a genius, but not to those who have their heads in the clouds, and their feet in the nineteenth century.

Garbage. Everything Bob Carver does involves a shortcut, all the way back to his Phase Linear days. Check out the mirrors behind neon bulbs to look like there's more tubes. Tacky! Bad enough he puts noisy devices right on the board, but to do this just for show is incredible!
