Suddenly...one third of my tracks are 'unavailable' using Qobuz


Hi all, I am now thinking this might be a common occurrence with any of the music services but I went to my favourite playlist I created using Qobuz and suddenly 20 tracks out of the 63 tracks I have added is now unavailable? I guess Qobuz is like popular video streaming services where movies come and go. That is disappointing :(

@wgs57 I probably have 1000 CDs and SACDs and hardly ever play them, as I find it's much more enjoyable to fire up Roon on my iPad.  The USB port on my Roon Nucleus Plus server sounds awesome and most of the masters on Qobuz sound as good, if not better than the CD versions I have, especially when the music has been remastered.
I am enjoying Qobuz for all the right reasons. Streaming services are a godsend for those who don’t want to keep or can’t keep a large vinyl or cd collection. Who has room for them any longer. I only have 100 vinyl and cd’s now which I still play and I still enjoy treating myself to a vinyl record from time-to-time. 
@bondmanp  -- I've been extremely pleased with Qobuz over the past two years. I also have a local library with a lot of obscure stuff, but then I've never expected my collection to be replaced by a streaming service.  However, I find the following aspects of Qobuz VERY attractive:
  • Listening to new releases and material that I don't have in my own collection. I've found several dozen artists and albums that I wasn't familiar with that are now part of my regular rotation. I'll just sample the new releases in various genres -- sometimes the song plays for only 5 or 10 seconds before I move on, and then sometimes I go "wow!"
  • Better quality copies of some of my old material.
  • Being able to instantly audition an artist or material that others have told me about or that I've heard elsewhere.
  • Being able to check out hi-rez options.
I think you'll enjoy Qobuz if any of those aspects appeal to you.

I am soon going to start a trial of Qobuz, now that my SBT can sign in to it (oh, yes, it can!).  I expect I can stump Qobuz as easily as I have stumped Tidal (I listen to some pretty obscure stuff). But this will be my first time paying for music streaming, and I am excited to try it out.
I noticed Neil Youngs music has been removed from Tidal,  some kind of dispute about his "masters".
It looks like Genius Loves Company and a bunch of Ray's other latter albums are all missing from Qobuz.
I totally understand your side...there is something very special to be had when you can touch and hold a vinyl record or a CD. You can see your collection and investment. 

But the advantage of streaming is the shear volume of music you can browse from and the quality from a good DAC is very acceptable with my old ears. I enjoy all mediums because it gives me choice. I am starting up a vinyl and CD collection again which makes me feel like a teenager again.

I couldn’t find that exact title either but a search turned up no less than 13 albums by Ray Charles with the word genius in them. I suspect that because his material has been re-packaged so many times the album you’re looking for is under one of those other “genius“ titles.
I have found that to true, but also entire albums.
Take for example Ray Charles' Genius Loves Company

Can anyone else access that album?

Maybe it's now restricted in my location?
And this is exactly why I "buy" physical media. It will never disappear. CD', LP's, Cassettes......
All of my tracks are available. They’re always on. No files or filters to fumble up.

It’s okay - we’ve all made silly mistakes like that. I’d start a thread on that topic and admit to my own bonehead error, but I’m too embarrassed. I need a few more years to get over it.

I've had a couple of situations where the album initially seemed to disappear from Qobuz only to find my original link had changed. The album was still there, but just not accessible with my old link in Favorites or a Playlist. A new search turned up the same album, still fully available. 

Still have to say that is annoying, but not quite the same league as disappearing all together. So far, Qobuz has been much better on this point than the video streaming services.

I also found this that may or may not apply to your issue:

Some rights-holders will restrict certain tracks in Qobuz allowing them to only be purchased for download.  These songs will however be displayed in the Qobuz Desktop or Mobile App as 'Qobuz Extracts'; 30-60 second samples of the full song to hear when browsing. 

The right-holders prevent streaming audio systems such as Bluesound from playing 'Extracts' or song samples in Qobuz.

Check out your particular album in the Qobuz Mobile or Desktop app in order to verify that the Album does not contain 'Extracts'”.



    That is not good. As noted above, Please email Qobuz and ask them. Please include the names of some of your missing tracks.

    Are you using Roon? Other Roon users have had similar issues. “Sometimes these streaming quirks are fixed by restarting your Roon Core”.

    I also suggest you reboot all devices. Power down your modem and router for 2 minutes. Please also ensure all software updates have been applied. If issue continues, please email Qobuz customer support.

    I have not found that to be the case with Qobuz at all.

    That may be the problem - I understand Qobuz is not officially available in Canada.

    What tracks seem to be unavailable??
