Subwoofer Connections

I have a Sunfire HRS-8 sub. My integrated amp does not have a subwoofer out, so my manual says I should connect my CD player outs to the line-level inputs of the sub; then, connect the high pass outputs of the sub to the inputs of the integrated amp.

My question is whether I should use subwoofer cables or normal interconnects for both connections. The subwoofer cables say they are for low frequency; but would using these mean I would be getting lower quality at the higher frequencies?

This makes no sense unless your CD player has a preamp that you are using to control the volume. Does your integrated amp have a preamp output? It would be helpful to list the integrated amp and CD player.

Thanks, and yes, that makes sense that you are using the 851C to control the volume.

As far as cables, you should use the same pair of normal interconnects for both connections. This should give you a good full range signal into the sub, then that same signal out to the amp, less the low frequencies due to the high pass filter.

It wouldn't surprise me that the only difference in some subwoofer cables is labeling and being sold as a single instead of a pair. Even if there is a difference, you still need to use normal interconnects.
