1500 - 2000 hours. A long time. The suspension will probably fail before the stylus.

Sylus life is based on a lot of factors, arm friction, stylus profile, tracking force, alignment, cleanliness of records and stylus, if a record is played repeatedly, ambient temperature, the list goes on and on. The Ortofon website suggests 600-1000 hours and I agree with this, finding claims of 2000-5000 hours to be but wishful hopes:
One thing to keep in mind. If I, and Ortofon, are wrong, it will cost you $100.00 or so, because you will be replacing your cartridge too soon. If the converse is true, you will be compromising your record collection through accelerated wear.
It should also be noted that all of a sudden your stylus does not become a groove chewer; generally wear is more linear as it is with a set of tires.
