..just thought I'd touch base with Audiogon and advise any of you with Vandersteen speakers to upgrade the power cord. I used Cardas clamshell connects and Neotech wire. The connects (I believe ANY connector made for us Audiophiles will not fit.) I took the IEC plug apart...removed the clamshell, removed the metal connecting pins, and sanded off a few mm of plastic of the insertion pug itself. I got it all together, and it is certainly a worthwhile project. Not only are the lows tightened up, but the whole speaker sounds much better ...faster, cleaner, etc. Worthwhile.

Not surprised that made an improvement. Vandersteen is a great product and typically resolves whatever mods go into the system.

AP....what was really interesting to me is that although the power cord is used for the amp which only is used for the low (sub) section of the speaker, I can hear a clarity, agility, ... and total improvement all the way up the frequency response.

I had the same thing happen when I upgraded the power cord on my Focal EM drive unit. Mind you this is the power supply (not even an amp) for the woofer and like you, the improvement went all the way through the mids and tweeter.

Hey Albert, I sent you a private message regarding Soundlab M-1 upgrades. Thank you

Got it, thanks for reaching out. I think you are on a good path, hopefully you can get the Sound-Lab speakers tuned up to your space.

Let me know what happens, I fondly remember my years with them.
