Stones "On Air"

Gave this deluxe edition a listen last night and wow, I'm bowled over! This is the Stones live on air back when they were just boys playing the blues covers they loved. The sound quality is way better than i expected, and is very listenable at higher volumes. Anyone with a decent system will appreciate the raw power of the band. The boys could play! Mick's vocals are a little stressed here and there but overall this cd is not just a nostalgic trip back in time, but a tribute to the blues genre. There are a few misses either sonically or performance wise, but feel free to skip a few songs when necessary.  A must play at your next party - see how many don't realize it's the Stones!

I had no knowledge of this. Did a quick read of the RS review.

Gettin' this one! My London mono's are always on rotation on the rekkid machine. I also enjoy their latest "Blue and Lonesome" cover album.

Another +vote for this CD set. The book is a very nice historical trip as well.

Happy Listening!

PS - the deluxe set includes a second cd which is not in the same league as the first in terms of SQ or performance wise. Might want to pass on the deluxe unless you are a Stones junkie.
