I recommend that you just get a preamp and not an integrated. Its very difficult to make an inexpensive active preamp. If you put the $1500 towards a good used preamp, you should be able to get something that sounds very good.

Got the idea to see if there is any integrated that is known for having as good preamp in it? I could use it for the pure with my Mac mc250 but also have as a backup for when I want a change or need backup? Current premium is an old Acurus RL11 and also have a Luminous Audio Axiom. Figure$1500 max used.
