Speakers for Shanling mc-30, recs?

I was planning on using the Shanling MC-30 (cd player, iPOD dock, fm receiver) in a bedroom system. It only has ~3 watts/channel of power so I will need very efficient speakers. Does anyone have any recommendations for speakers? I would like them to be under $1000. They will play jazz/NPR/female vocalists. thx rob
