Speaker Isolation

I have a a set of Focal Profile 918 speakers which are floor standers that I currently place on black diamond racing cones pointed down at my hardwood floor. I have noticed other people have chosen to place their speakers on top of platforms and such and I am wondering if the isolation concerns that exist for most other components also exist for speakers. In other words what results have everyone had from different speaker spikes, cones, platforms etc? Also what is considered to be the ideal footing for floor standing speakers? Thanks

I use Herbie's big fat dots under my floorstanding Kirksaeters on a hardwood floor. The speakers don't come with spikes and I didn't want to drill holes for them. The dots provide excellent isolation and clarity to the sound.
